Volunteer Opportunities – You Discover Math
The purpose of the YDM HR Committee is to implement effective practices for employee and volunteer recruitment, vetting, onboarding, retention, recognition, and succession planning.
This may be an excellent role for: a Human Resources young professional or seasoned veteran interested in serving their community and mentoring / coaching young people to develop their skills via practical experience supporting the Human Resources committee of a nonprofit organization.
Ideal candidates may have the following traits: desire and ability to influence systems to change for the better; vision & creativity to craft proposals / ways to move teams forward; skill in communicating with various formats to gather input / suggestions / buy-in from teammates; desire and ability to nurture leadership capacity of teammates while pursuing collective goals.
Role expectations / duties:
- Participate in YDM's Leadership Team by using your HR expertise to propose and manage goals for the HR committee and requesting the resources needed to support the organization's mission and vision.
- Lead or co-lead meetings of HR Committee members on a recurring basis (currently biweekly)
- Guide the committee’s work toward achieving its goals. Ensure teammates have the clarity, tools, and support they need to achieve the goals.
- Work with the Board Treasurer to establish & manage the committee’s budget, aligning the Organization’s financial resources & needs with the committee’s needs & goals.
- Help grow the size of the HR committee as needed to meet committee's needs and goals
- Support implementation and maintenance of employee payroll system.
Time commitment: 2 to 4 hours per week on average in a virtual format on a flexible schedule, for a period of at least one year.
