Customer Success Volunteer

BakerRipley students in Adult Education Programs come to BakerRipley to learn skills for jobs and education. The Customer Success Volunteer has a vital role in helping BakerRipley students complete their ESL, GED or vocational training studies. The Customer Success Volunteer manages the adult education student mailbox, voicemails & phone calls, and provides information & referrals to other resources or programs.

What will this achieve?
-A smooth entryway into the Adult Education program for all potential clients.
-A connection to resources for all students in need, so they can achieve their goals and support their families.

What will I need to do?
-Check voicemails and return phone calls as needed, to provide information.
-Help prepare and distribute resource packages and outreach materials to clients and partners.
-Make student phone calls as needed to either request information or offer a service.
-Collect and draft student success stories.
-Greet students into the building and help them navigate.

What is required of me to be successful in this role?
-Cultural Sensitivity and Mutual Respect: Ability to interact professionally with students of diverse backgrounds, developing a rapport with students as the primary drivers of their own learning and success.
-Basic proficiency in workplace computer skills.
-Attention to detail.
-Solid writing skills in English.
-Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are required.

Where would I be volunteering?
This is an in-person volunteer role at the Gulfton Campus Annex B location, 6655 Rookin at Bellaire. Masks are required.

What is the time commitment?
-To get you started, we will provide training in our program structure, menu of services and the main communication tools. The training will take about 2-3 hours and will be arranged with one of our team members.
-You will also shadow a team member briefly to learn on the job and get familiar with the most frequent requests.
-Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one three-hour shift (either 9 am-12 pm or 5 pm-8 pm) on a Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday each week.
