ABOUT THE SCHOOL AT AVONDALE HOUSE
Approved by the Texas Education Agency, the School at Avondale House is a year-round program for children with autism ages 3-21, who exhibit behavioral challenges associated with their moderate to severe autism diagnosis.
With certified teachers, licensed specialists, well-trained paraprofessionals, a low teacher-to-student ratio, and state-of-the-art classrooms, our educational program is tailored to meet the specific individual needs of each student.

THE NEED
Come participate in a rewarding volunteer opportunity working with our Avondale House students in their classrooms. students vary from ages 3 to 21 and come from all over the Houston-area to benefit from our high-quality autism services. Our classroom student-to-teacher ratio is small, but more hands are always needed! Additional people not only enhance a student’s experience, but we also believe you will benefit from getting to know our awesome students!
Reports to: Principal and Vice-Principal
Minimum commitment: 4 months, at least 6 hours per week
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must attend Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) overview (Avondale House provides training; Usually 2-3 hours)
- Must have experience and be comfortable working with individuals who have intellectual differences (experience with autism a plus)
- Must be COVID-19 vaccinated
