Agency Description: Guided by the principles of human compassion and dignity, Refugee Services of Texas welcomes refugees, immigrants, and other displaced people and supports them in integrating and thriving in their new communities.
Internship Description: This position is open to students who want to learn about health case management with refugees and displaced populations.
Duties:
- Assist in the coordination of health-related services for clients, including: assessment, developing service plans, follow-up support and case file documentation
- Research health providers and community resources and advocate for clients as necessary
- Create and give presentations to refugees on health-related topics in coordination with the Refugee AmeriCorps Cultural Orientation Program
- Maintain a high level of organization in documenting activities within client case files and computer databases
- Work closely with clients with disabilities and their RST case manager to provide health care
