3ABF Office Support Volunteer Overview
About Us
3 "A" Bereavement Foundation (3ABF) offers a wide range of bereavement services for low-income and working poor in the Houston Metropolitan Area. Since inception, we have assisted almost 10,000 families heal from the loss of their loved one through emotional and financial support. 3ABF is the only organization in Houston offering comprehensive bereavement families and we are seeking volunteers to meet the demand of families in need.
Responsibilities
- Answer a wide range of calls and emails to 3 “A” Bereavement Foundation, covering topics such as bereavement information, programs & services, donor inquiries, and volunteering (training provided)
- Provide support and information to people suffering the loss of a loved one
- Carry out office support tasks such as data management and filing
- Support with local event preparation and administration for major 3ABF events
- Maintain an understanding of the history, mission, and impact of 3ABF
Commitment
- Volunteer on an as-needed basis
- Display a positive working attitude and strong work ethic
- Be on time and be responsible during shift; notify 3ABF if you are not able to make it to shift or expect to arrive late
Requirements
- Must be 21 or older
- Possess reliable transportation
- Friendly and approachable, with professional phone manner
- Ability to work effectively with staff and other volunteers
- Previous office support experience is an asset
- Customer service experience is an asset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are an asset
- Word and Excel skills are an asset
- Ability to deal with possible customer complaints or issues
- Belief in the importance of the mission of 3ABF
- Good English speaking & writing skills; Bilingual is an asset
- Complete and submit the 3ABF Volunteer Application Form and related forms (the latter will be done on-site as part of orientation)
- No experience necessary!
