About Us
3 "A" Bereavement Foundation (3ABF) offers a wide range of bereavement services for low-income and working poor in the Houston Metropolitan Area. Since inception, we have assisted almost 10,000 families heal from the loss of their loved one through emotional and financial support. 3ABF is the only organization in Houston offering comprehensive bereavement families and we are seeking volunteers to meet the demand of families in need.
Responsibilities
- Attend Speakers Bureau Training
- Participate in monthly committee conference call (first Saturday of every month)
- Help spread the message of the important work of 3ABF and our impact in the community
- Represent 3ABF at a variety of community events by verbally presenting facts about 3ABF and our support of bereaved families
- Maintain an understanding of the history, mission, and impact of 3ABF
- Complete a brief evaluation following speaking engagements
- Have fun and help heal lives through the sharing of accurate information regarding bereavement and the impact of 3ABF
Commitment
- Display a positive working attitude and strong work ethic
- Minimum of two speaking engagements per year, as opportunities are available
- Be on time and be responsible during assigned events and meetings; notify 3ABF if you are not able to attend committee meeting or event
Requirements
- Must be 21 or older
- Comfortable speaking in front of groups of people
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Possess reliable transportation
- Available to attend events during the weekday, evening, or weekends
- Belief in the importance of the mission of 3ABF
- Good English speaking & writing skills; Bilingual English & Spanish speakers desired
- Complete and submit the 3ABF Volunteer Application Form and related forms (the latter will be done on-site as part of orientation)
- No experience necessary!
