Health Prevention and Awareness (HAPP): The purpose of the HAPP program is to bring awareness and education to the Vietnamese American community regarding major health problems that affect them especially the new immigrants. Just a little more information about the workshop: Our HAPP program is > currently partner with the Rose and Komen-Houston to provide mammogram > screenings and education for low-income women. Majority of our population > are Vietnamese women. What takes place at the workshops: HAPP coordinator will educate the > women about breast cancer, risks, and signs/symptoms etc. Once the education > piece and paperwork is competed, the practitioner will do a breast > examination and write a mammogram referral (referral forms are provided by > the Rose). The workshops usually are from 10-12pm Saturday mornings once or > twice a month. > > As part of the HAPP program we also do basic health screenings for the > clients including cholesterol, blood pressure, and diabetes.
