YMCA International Services is a unique center of the YMCA of Greater Houston that delivers client-centered programs to refugees, immigrants, and other vulnerable populations to advance their economic independence, social integration, and civic participation. The Y helps newcomers restore hope, build stability, create opportunity and change futures. YMCA International Services is continuously recognized as a leader in the Houston immigrant community.
YMCA International Services is currently looking for volunteers to help in our warehouse and help with setting up apartments for incoming refugee families.
Responsibilities
Assist donations manager in acquiring, storing, and organizing all new donations given to YMCA International Services. Assist with new refugee apartment setup. Go shopping for groceries with donations manager to help stock new apartments. Transport donations to apartments so when the families arrive at Houston they have something they can call their own.
If you are looking for a way to give refugees a good foundation when they arrive at Houston for the first time this is a perfect opportunity.
Hours are from Monday-Friday anytime between 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
