Overview:
As a Facilitator for the TWST4Girls Youth Enrichment Program at Fort Bend Juvenile Correctional Facilities, you will play a vital role in empowering young girls through mentorship, education, and skill-building activities. The program aims to provide a supportive and enriching environment where participants can develop essential life skills, build confidence, and explore personal growth opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate Weekly Classes: Conduct engaging and interactive sessions for TWST4Girls participants at Fort Bend Juvenile Correctional Facilities. Classes will be held once a week for an hour each, either on Saturdays or Sundays.
- Curriculum Implementation: Implement the provided curriculum effectively, ensuring that it aligns with the program's objectives and addresses the needs of the participants. Tailor activities to foster personal development, leadership skills, self-esteem, and resilience.
- Create a Safe and Supportive Environment: Foster a safe and inclusive space where participants feel valued, respected, and empowered to express themselves. Encourage open communication, active participation, and mutual support among group members.
- Mentorship and Guidance: Serve as a positive role model and mentor for TWST4Girls participants, offering guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback. Support their personal growth journey by providing mentorship and sharing relevant experiences and insights.
- Promote Positive Behavior and Conflict Resolution: Model positive behavior and promote a culture of respect, empathy, and cooperation within the group. Help participants develop effective conflict resolution skills and strategies for managing emotions and interpersonal relationships.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with program coordinators, fellow facilitators, and correctional staff to ensure the smooth implementation of the program. Communicate regularly with stakeholders, providing updates on participant progress, challenges, and any additional support needed.
- Documentation and Evaluation: Maintain accurate records of attendance, participant feedback, and session observations. Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of the program by providing insights, suggestions for improvement, and identifying areas of success.
Qualifications:
- Passion for working with youth and a commitment to supporting their personal development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and connect with diverse groups of participants.
- Experience facilitating group activities, workshops, or educational sessions, preferably in a youth development or similar setting.
- Knowledge of adolescent development, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based practices for promoting positive youth outcomes.
