Friends of Columbia Tap has teamed up with the Houston Housing Authority to throw a big 3rd Ward Block Party with bike rides, a resource fair, kid zone, DJ, food truck. We are back with the third annual 3rd Ward on Tap Festival to be held May 11, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We need your help. Please register as a volunteer to work either before, during, or after the event.
This third annual event is organized by the Houston Housing Authority (Cuney Homes) and the Friends of Columbia Tap. Site setup will occur from 8:00 to 9:45 AM on May 11, 2024, and take down/clean up will begin at 2:00 PM. Water, snacks, and shade will be provided.
3rd Ward on Tap Tre Edition is a block party featuring a resource fair for non-profit exhibitors, a kid zone, food truck(s), guest speakers, and bike rides along the Columbia Tap Trail to learn some history and point out new and potential installations. Participants will learn about the role of parks in our community. We will engage Cuney Homes residents to reimagine the Columbia Tap Trail as a connected, sustainable, linear park. The 3rd Ward on Tap Tre Edition will challenge Houstonians to seek equitable park funding across the city. We'll learn about the 170-year history of the Columbia Tap Trail.
Four shifts of volunteers will work from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Water and snacks will be provided to volunteers. About 10 volunteers will work during each shift. Duties will include setting up tents, table, and chairs; assisting guests with parking; helping exhibitors set up; keeping the kid zone safe; monitoring trash bins and removing trash; taking down and storing tents, tables, and chairs; and general clean up and information sharing. Pick the time you prefer.
