Our next Volunteer Day for individuals to help work on beautification, conservation, and maintenance of Buffalo Bayou Park is Saturday, December 17, 2022. Our specific projects are determined a day or two prior to the event but focus on the most immediate needs in the park. Those are activities like weeding, removing invasive plants and vines, spreading mulch, and trail and trail light clean-up and trash pick-up.
I'll send out an email to everyone who completes our required online waiver with that day's project specifics, along with the parking and meeting place locations. Our area covers 4 1/2 miles along the bayou, so I'll let you know the closest spots to where we'll be working. It'll also include other transit options. That includes bikes! There are bike racks around the park, but I also carry long cables so they can also be locked up at our project site.
The email will also include other information about the best attire for the project and expected weather conditions. Our Volunteer Information Packet includes general information and suggestions as to what you might want to bring and what we provide. If you have specific questions, you contact Steve Parker, the Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@buffalobayou.org
You can also visit our website for more about the Partnership, Buffalo Bayou Park, becoming a member of the Partnership or our young professional's program The Currents.
There are also some great holiday gifts you can find in our Visitor Center at 105 1/2 Sabine St. or at our online boutique!
