Volunteers needed to provide lunch and refreshments for our children attending Day Camp.
Summer is a difficult time for low-income families who sometimes depend on the free school lunches to help keep their children fed which is why we always try to provide a healthy lunch to our RaiseUp kiddos when they join us for day camp.
- Examples of a healthy lunch for the kiddos would be a main entrée as in turkey/ham and cheese sandwiches, pizza, chicken nuggets, or pasta/lasagna, served with a salad, fruit platter, or veggies and cookies or popsicles for dessert.
- Examples of refreshments are lemonade, Kool-aid, or fruit juices.
- You and your team won't have to be on site for 2 hours I'm just adding driving time and preparing the meal into the volunteer time. We serve lunch to the kiddos at noon, so it just depends on how long set-up and break down will take. *For example: most will arrive at the church around 11:30am to set-up, start serving the children lunch at noon, and pack up and leave between 12:30-1pm.
*Cold water is already being provided to everyone.*
**Please note: Volunteers are to purchase and/or make lunches with refreshments for up to 45 children, and bring to John Knox Church (2525 N Gessner Rd 77080**
**Also, please note that this is a great volunteer opportunity for a team (business, church, or facebook group) or a family or two to do together!
