Thanks!

Ongoing….Cheerful, handmade holiday cards are needed at nursing homes throughout the Greater Houston and surrounding areas!

Due to the fact that volunteers can't visit and pass out cards, The Holiday Project has made some changes. We now have cardmakers drop off their cards at a facility in their community.

You can sign up to make cards through this post on Volunteer Houston.

Please include your zip code in the note section.

Once I receive your zip code I will search for a facility near you. Once I have located a facility I  will call the activity director to make sure they are accepting cards and ask how many residents are at their facility.

Any amount of cards are appreciated.

If you are unable to make cards for everyone in the facility please know that the activity director can pass out the amount of cards you make to the residents that need extra encouragement.

 Card Guidelines:

In order to encourage creativity, very few guidelines are imposed on the making of Holiday Project handmade greeting cards. The cards may be almost any size, and the media used can be as simple as colored markers. Some people use combinations of media such as markers, rubber stamps, cut- out computer-generated images, pasted bits of ribbon or felt, etc.
•Please don't use glitter-on-glue. The glitter tends to get all over everything. However, pre-mixed "Glitter Glue" (such as is made by Crayola) is fine.
•(For example, a Christmas card that says "Merry Christmas" on the front and "Wishing you all the joy of the season" or other similar sayings that are creative and/or festive inside would be fine.
•It's preferable that the cards not be in envelopes.
•Cards should be signed by the persons making them. Any signature should probably include just the signer's first name or first names of group.
