Second Saturday Settlers

Expired

Description

At Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center, we have a replica of an 1830's pioneer settlement and Native American village. On the second Saturday of every month, staff and volunteers bring the Redbud Hill Homestead & Akokisa Village to life as they demonstrate 19th century life in full costume.

Volunteers are needed to demonstrate life skills, like grinding corn, making soap, gardening, wood working, or spinning & weaving. No experience is necessary. Training and costumes are provided. Learn a 19th century life skill while visiting with park patrons and socializing with other volunteers!

Because we work with and around children, all volunteers must submit to a criminal background check (at no cost to you).
