Memorial Hermann Hospice is looking for caring and compassionate volunteers to visit patients in their homes. We service pediatric and adult patients. Home visits could include spending time with the patients talking, listening, playing games or anything the patient would want or possibly need. There are many other opportunities to help patients families as well.
To become a certified hospice volunteer, candidates must complete an orientation training program. This training covers various aspects of hospice care, including exploring end-of-life issues, the dying process, grief and loss, communication, spirituality, psychosocial issues, symptom control, physical care of the dying and self-care. Volunteers will be asked to complete continuing education throughout the year.
Background check, flu shot and COVID vaccine are also required.
