Memorial Hermann Hospice is looking for patient, compassionate, caring volunteers to assist our bereavement team. Volunteers would assist our chaplains with making bereavement support phone calls or in-person visits as directed by bereavement staff. Additional training in bereavement support will be provided.
To become a certified hospice volunteer, candidates must complete an orientation training program. This training covers various aspects of hospice care, including exploring end-of-life issues, the dying process, grief and loss, communication, spirituality, psychosocial issues, symptom control, physical care of the dying and self-care. Volunteers will be asked to complete continuing education throughout the year.
Background check, flu shot and COVID vaccine are also required.
