The Houston Community ToolBank shepherds an inventory of tools for use by nonprofits and their volunteers. We are a local, grassroots operation that functions as a “tool library” of sorts. Local organizations borrow our signature blue-painted tools for home site repairs, community gardens, fun runs, playground builds, and more.
We are planning to hire an intern for the 2017 summer. Applicants must be currently enrolled college students interested in learning more about networking, marketing, and nonprofits. This internship will be a paid, hands-on experience focused on developing key outreach and fundraising skills.

-Coordinating strategies with the Communications & Development Coordinator.
-Connecting with funders through email, telephone, and in-person means.
-Visiting service project sites to take pictures, create social media posts, and document stories for grants.
-Grant and proposal writing.
-Data entry and administrative work.
Requirements:
-Candidates must be high school graduates, currently enrolled full-time undergraduate college students that have finished their freshman year, and are returning to college as a full-time undergraduate in the fall of 2017.
-Candidates must NOT have relatives affiliated with ExxonMobil, Volunteer Houston, or the staff and board of the Houston Community ToolBank.
Preferred Requirements:
-Comfortable talking to people and soliciting donations.
-Comfort and familiarity with social media.
-Excellent writing and communication skills.
-Well connected to Houston area.
-Interest in graphic design.
-No prior experience necessary—this is a training-focused internship.
