The Heritage Society is seeking creative and reliable volunteers to help decorate our historic houses for the 63rd Annual Candlelight Tour. All decorating will be guided by our Collections team, and each home will be styled according to its specific time period. Volunteers will help bring the holiday spirit to life for thousands of visitors who attend this beloved Houston tradition.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with holiday decorating inside and around historic homes
- Follow Collections team guidance to ensure décor matches each house’s era
- Help place garlands, wreaths, table settings, candle light stakes, and seasonal accents
- Work collaboratively with staff and other volunteers during scheduled November sessions
- Support overall event readiness for Candlelight Tour on December 12 and 13
Ideal Volunteer or Group: Enjoys holiday decorating, staging, or creative projects
Comfortable working inside historic homes
Detail‑oriented, reliable, and collaborativeGreat for corporate teams, service clubs, student groups, and families
Time Commitment: November decorating sessions (weekday and weekend options)
Volunteers may sign up for one or multiple shifts
Groups may decorate a house together.
We welcome company sponsorships for the houses as well.
