Young Hearts and Hands invites students to volunteer by helping collect food items for families experiencing food insecurity at Sundown Elementary, a Title 1 school. Students may also earn service hours by sorting and packing donations at St. Peters Church, 20775 Kingsland blvd, Katy, 77450.
Sorting and Packing Session - every Wednesday, starting 9/9 from 3-5 pm at St. Peter's UMC at the Wesley Youth Center (20775 Kingsland location).
Service Hours: 2 hours for collecting food; 2 hours for sorting and packing if applicable.
Donation Items:
1 bag of rice, 1 box of pasta, 1 box of cereal
2 cans beans; 2 cans tuna or chicken; 1 jar peanut butter
1 box oatmeal; 2 snack items
2 cans vegetables; 2 cans fruit
Extras: pasta sauce, pancake mix, cooking oil, juice boxes, other shelf stable items
Drop off locations:
Mondays: St. Peter's UMC 12-3 in the main office
Sundays: 3902 Emerald Branch Lane, Katy, Texas, 77450; 2410 Hidden Shore Dr., Katy, 77450 (gate code from Fry road is #129).
