The UT Health Houston Community Action Poverty Simulator (CAPS) is a learning experience for medical, nursing, dental, and public health students that helps them better understand the challenges faced by individuals and families experiencing poverty while exploring the role healthcare professionals can play in addressing social and economic barriers to health.
During each four-hour
simulation, the community
representatives staff these simulated agencies and interact directly with
students, followed by a debrief session where participants reflect on the
experience.
