Join SPLASh and Filipino Young Professionals of Houston to help us clean up Monument Inn beach!
This will be our final cleanup as part of the FWC Houston Sustainability Committee's bayou cleanup events. This program is city-wide effort to remove trash, reduce pollution, and better understand how major events impact our waterways.

Parking
Park in the parking lot for Juan Seguin park across the stree. Please do not park in the Monument Inn Restaurant parking lot. They have graciously allowed us to use thier property for us to set up, but request we leave the parking lot open for their customers.
Two Volunteer Opportunities for the Day!
General Cleanup Volunteer - Cleanup trash in the area, no data collection required.
Data Collection Volunteer - SPLASh Staff will lead a random bag sample with your help! You will be guided in the proper protocol to collect & itemize trash within an area. If you would like to participate as a cleanup volunteer, please make a note when you register and arrive by 7:45am. No prior training required!
Waivers
All volunteers are required to sign waivers. We encourage you to fill out your waiver before arrival so we can get started improving bird habitats and waterways right way. We will have physical waivers on site day of as well. Click HERE to sign our digital waivers for yourself and any children participating with you.
Supplies
We will provide trash bags, grabbers, water refills, first aid supplies, bug spray, and sunscreen. Closed-toed shoes are required. Long pants are recommended due to mosquitoes but be weather-aware. It will be hot. Bring a reusable water bottle and any additional bug spray, sunscreen or supplies you may need to keep you safe during the cleanup.
Site Safety
You must walk over rocks to get to the beach. This requires some coordination and we will create safest pathway and assist as needed. Expect beachy terrain and overgrowth areas. Your safety is our number one priority.

SPLASh will reach out the week prior to the event with cleanup details, weather plans, and additional important information to best prepare you for the day. Please ensure you register with a valid email to get the most up to date information. We strongly suggest each participant register to ensure you receive most up to date information.
