We’re inviting volunteers to join us for our monthly Second Saturday Garden Day at Blackshear Elementary in Third Ward, Houston.
This ongoing initiative supports the development of a school-based garden that provides hands-on learning opportunities, promotes sustainability, and increases access to fresh food for students and their families.
Volunteers will assist with activities such as planting, garden maintenance, bed preparation, harvesting, and general beautification of the space. No prior gardening experience is required, just a willingness to learn and contribute.
This is a welcoming, community-centered environment open to individuals, families, and groups looking to give back in a meaningful way.
What to Expect:
Hands-on gardening and planting
Learning opportunities in urban agriculture
Community engagement and service hours
Beginner-friendly environment
Please wear comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, and bring water. Gardening tools and materials will be provided.
We look forward to growing with you.
