Duty Officers are the backbone of our disaster response serving as the dispatchers for the American Red Cross Disaster Action Teams. They are the steady support and command presence that guides and backs up our response teams. Virtual Training is easily accessible and provided by the American Red Cross. We respond to an average of more than 60,000 disasters every year. Join us to make a difference today!
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and assess disaster calls
- Dispatch and support Disaster Action Teams
- Provide real-time guidance and resources to responders in the field
- Ensure accurate documentation and communication of events
- Coordinate with partners and leadership for larger incidents
Required:
- Reliable access to a computer, internet, and a phone.
- Comfortable using and learning new technology
- Commitment to use RC Care and RC Respond systems as needed
- Able to prioritize multiple tasks in complex, rapidly changing and stressful situations.
- Must be 18 years or older
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to work for long periods on a computer
- Ability to speak clearly on the phone
- Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies
