Located at the corner of Old Spanish Trail and Cambridge.

Coordinate volunteer services and activities throughout   the hospital.

McNair Campus 4th Floor Waiting Area

Position Summary

Serve as a liaison between 4th Floor Waiting   Area, admitting, recovery and

the patients, family members and guest in the Waiting Area

Hours Of Operation

Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 3:30pm

  • Must have excellent        guest relation skills, correct telephone etiquette
  •   
  • Extroverted, mature,        positive, service-oriented individuals.
  •   
  • Must be able to        communicate clearly in English: bilingual skills are helpful

Waiting Area Coordinator and/or Director of Volunteer   Services

Work Performed

  1. Communicates with families, physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary departments to provide accurate patient and family information.  Incorporate AIDET principles during interactions with patients, family members and visitors.
  2. Sees to the general comfort of all guests.
  3. Complies with and is knowledgeable of appropriate departmental policies, procedures and standards. 
  4. Greets guests warmly, using eye contact and a smile.  
  5. Welcomes guests if they have checked in at the reception desk.  
  6. Answers phones promptly (no more than (3) rings).
  7. Retrieves messages from phone answering machine.  Takes messages for visitors, nursing staff and physicians.  
  8. Maintains cleanliness of waiting areas, and coffee bars.  Checks restrooms frequently, and calls environmental services as required for cleaning.  
  9. Makes coffee as needed.  
  10. Uses the hospital information systems, Epic and Agile Trak proficiently to obtain patient information.   Obtains and relays patient and family information when appropriate.  
  11. Informs families of visiting hours and coordinates visiting time with each unit.  
  12. Escorts patients and/or families to the 4th floor Surgery unit, pre-op and post-op.
  13. Maintains a helpful, courteous and kind demeanor. 
  14. Maintains a current list of families in the Waiting Area.  
  15. Obtains family location and phone numbers, when applicable.
  16. Observes special needs of families, and calls for assistance from Pastoral Care, Social Services, International Patient Services, Patient Services, or Security.
