Join the City of Houston's Disaster Relief & Recovery Warming/ Cooling Volunteer Team and make a difference in times of crisis!
When disaster strikes, our community needs helping hands more than ever. The City of Houston is calling compassionate, committed individuals to join our volunteer team to support disaster recovery efforts across the city as needed. Warming & Cooling Shelters Location TBD
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Volunteers will assist individuals and families at aid centers, providing a safe and welcoming environment
- Assist with shelter setup, cleanliness, and food distribution
- Transport supplies and manage people
- Comfortable with standing, lifting, and walking long distances
- Assist with providing basic needs like food, water, blankets, and sometimes help with pets
Volunteer Requirements
- Review Disaster Relief & Recovery manual (manual will be provided via email)
- Complete the City of Houston Volunteer Waiver Form (form will be provided via email)
- Attend a Disaster Relief & Recovery informational session via TEAMS
- Photo ID Required
- Background Check Required
