In order to prepare our Meals on Wheels seniors for Hurricane Season, we will be delivering a box of 5 shelf-stable meals to all 4,500 seniors who live in Harris County. These meals should be saved for any weather situation that prevents their regular MOW Driver from getting to them, safely (severe winds, high water on roadways, etc.).
By responding to this need, you are registering 1 car and will be assigned 1 route, which will deliver to approximately 10 Meals on Wheels seniors. The seniors on your assigned route will all live in close proximity to one another. Deliveries for this event will be within Harris County. Our seniors are excited to meet you!
This is a drive-through pick-up process. Please remain in your vehicle and roll down your driver's side window, as you enter the parking lot. We will have team members there, to assist you, hand you your delivery list (route sheet), and load your vehicle with meals. The only thing you need to bring is yourself, comfortable/weather-appropriate clothing, a mask for yourself and each person serving with you, and hand sanitizer, to use throughout the day.
Additional volunteers, including kiddos, are welcome to join in on deliveries. Only the Driver of the vehicle need register and that person must be 18 years of age or older.
Meals will be picked up, at assigned intervals, between 9:00 AM and 12 noon. Deliveries will take approximately 2 hours.
