Be part of our Business Outreach Team!
Attend our orientation and training this Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to noon at Levy Park.
We're excited to say that United Against Human Trafficking is recruiting businesses again to partner with us in the fight against human trafficking.
UAHT is constantly seeking to raise awareness and find creative ways to get information in the hands of potential victims. Our Business Outreach Team has an integral part of reaching out to local businesses in our community. This team is made up of dedicated volunteers who wish to be a voice for the vulnerable in our city and connect with business who are willing to make a difference.
The objective of this completely volunteer-based effort is two-fold: 1) to increase awareness about human trafficking among businesses in high human-trafficking areas, and 2) to get the National Human Trafficking Hotline number into the hands of potential trafficking victims in places they may work.
Volunteers will work in teams of two or three on Saturdays of their choosing for two hours.
All volunteers who want to become part of the Business Outreach Team must complete orientation and training.
Orientation will cover the key duties, processes, script, impact, and time commitment needed to competently speak to businesses on behalf of UAHT and trafficking victims.
The session will take place outdoors at Levy Park off Richmond Avenue between Buffalo Speedway and Kirby. We will gather on the grass or seating area and social distance with masks on.
After the Orientation presentation, we will then either walk or drive to nearby businesses, and each participant will get to train with a veteran volunteer who has extensive experience and knowledge of the process.
(Please note: Although it is NOT required before orientation and training, UAHT does ask that all volunteers complete and pay for a background check at a cost of $19.99 before their first Business Outreach assignment.)
