Due to Hurricane Harvey, Mercer Botanic Gardens is currently closed and this opportunity is not available. Please check back monthly.
Mercer Botanic Gardens are a year-round visitor destination for viewing and studying nature at its best. Free to the public, Mercer combines botanical collections, native plants and display gardens in a beautiful piney woods setting.
Whether your gardening thumb is green, brown or somewhere in between, volunteers ages 16+ are welcome to assist with the maintenance of Mercer Botanic Gardens. During a 3-hour Tuesday and/or Thursday morning shift, you will assist Mercer staff in the maintenance of plant beds. You'll also learn about the best plants for Houston gardens.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Mercer Botanic Gardens is a Harris County operated facility. It comprises 325 acres of East Texas Piney Woods and showcases the region's largest collection of native and cultivated plants. It also maintains a 'living museum' which is home to a wealth of animal life.
