Please join us to mentor a child at Emerson Elementary School this year! Mentors at Emerson Elementary meet one-on-one with a student mentee once / week, Monday - Friday, for 30 minutes during the student's lunch hour. In addition to a great need for English speaking mentors, we welcome and are also in need of Spanish, Farsi, Urdu, Pashto speakers!
Mentors might play games, talk, ready or do an activity that follows the HISD character trait emphasis for each month (kindness, gratitude, grit, etc) - mentors can be creative! The heart of mentoring is to share consistent, focused time with a child. Mentoring helps meet the basic human need of letting our children know they are not alone, but rather loved and seen. 74% of those who had a mentor early in life say that mentor contributed to their overall success in life!
