Who We Are
Friends of Westchase is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit building bridges between schools, businesses, churches, and neighbors to strengthen the Westchase community of Houston, Texas. We believe transformation happens one relationship at a time. Our programs focus on mentoring students, supporting families, and equipping our schools with the resources they need to thrive. Through initiatives like lunchtime mentoring, MENtorUP, apartment outreach, the community garden, and prayer ministry, we bring people together to meet real needs and create lasting impact. At our core, we are neighbors helping neighbors—sharing hope, dignity, and opportunity so every child and family in Westchase can flourish.
What We Do
Friends of Westchase connects people and resources to meet the needs of students, families, and schools in the Westchase community. We partner with local HISD campuses, community organizations, businesses, and churches to provide:
Mentorship – Lunchtime mentoring for elementary and middle school students.
MENtorUP, our Saturday program for young men.
School Support – Teacher appreciation events, classroom resources, and campus improvement projects.
Apartment Ministry – After-school activities, tutoring, and relationship-building with children and families in nearby apartment communities.
Community Garden – Growing fresh produce for families experiencing food insecurity.
Prayer Ministry – Walking school campuses in prayer and offering spiritual encouragement to teachers and families.
Everything we do is rooted in collaboration and driven by a shared vision—building a stronger, healthier community where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
