The Creative Activism Program is designed for all students to discuss the experiences of Jews during WWII. The exhibit will specifically focus on the Terezin transit camp and how detianees created art to express their hardships and emotions during times of distress.
The workshop will allow students to develop critical thinking skills, by asking students the following series of questions: What does it mean to live through a traumatic event? How can we discuss sensitive topics? How can art be used to express empathy?
To answer the preceding questions, students will engage in a variety of activities to learn about Art Therapy in Terezin. Students will then create an illustration representing how the workshop has impacted their perpective on a historical event. At the end of the session, the art will be showcased in a special exhibit on Terezin in the Fall of 2020.
The program will last two and a half hours. The workshop is available from February 1,2020 through August 31,2020, between 10am and 4pm.
