In past elections, Asian Americans have faced a series of barriers in exercising their right to vote, including segregated “Asian” voting lines. When the news media reported on election results, Asian Americans were often overlooked.
On Election Day (November 6), Boat People SOS-Houston will be partnering with the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF). We need help surveying members of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community after they have voted in the Midterm Election.
We need volunteers to serve 3 hour shifts outside of the Alief ISD Administration building:
- 4250 Cook Rd, Houston, TX 77072
- Shifts begin at 7 am, 10 am, 1 pm, and 4 pm
This is a non-partisan survey, so volunteers should avoid wearing anything in support of a particular candidate or party.
Please let us know your preferred shift in order to be a part of this unique field research opportunity! Training will be provided beforehand.
***Bilingual volunteers are especially appreciated***
