Who We Are
Since 1979, TWRC Wildlife Center has been committed to providing quality emergency care and rehabilitation for injured, ill, and orphaned wildlife brought to us by the public. Through education and engaging the public in wildlife-care programs, TWRC continues to make a difference for urban wildlife threatened by loss of habitat.
We work with the public, youth groups, Scouts, churches, and schools to help educate people on the importance that wildlife plays in our environment and in our lives.
We have many volunteer opportunities available. Whether you prefer outreach and fundraising, administrative duties, or caring for the education animals in our Center we have room for your unique skills!
What We Do
TWRC consists of our Wildlife Center and our Animal Care Program.
Operating year-round, our Wildlife Center in the heart of our organization. We directly communicate with the public through education and outreach, special projects, and our admissions desk answers thousands of phone calls from the public every year. In addition to answering calls about animals, admissions staff process all incoming injured or orphaned animals, transferring them to the vet room for assessment.
Once animals are assessed, suitable candidates are accepted into the Animal Care Program. ACP helped almost 5000 birds, mammals, and reptiles in 2019. Once animals are healthy they are handed over to an at-home rehabber and eventually released back into the wild to live out their life.
ACP operates from March through October when the need is highest, animals taken in during the winter months are sent directly to at-home rehabbers.
