Who We Are

Ombudsman=Advocate

The Long-Term Care (LTC) Ombudsman Program is federally mandated under the 1978 amendments to the Older Americans Act. The Program helps residents, family, and staff achieve the best possible quality of life in Harris County nursing homes and assisted living facilities. We are a resource for choosing long-term care facilities and also provide information on resident's rights, eligibility criteria, and other services for older adults and those living with disabilities.

What We Do

The Harris County Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program advocates for the optimal quality of life and quality of care of residents in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Our state-certified volunteers and paid staff ombudsmen are a free and confidential resource that solely represents the interests of residents who live in those long-term care facilities.
