Who We Are

Our Mission Shay Babies empowers underserved communities by providing outreach, mentorship, education, and networking opportunities. We create safe spaces where women, youth, and families can find hope, healing, and the support needed to build resilience and lasting change. Our Vision We envision a world where individuals from all walks of life are equipped with the tools, resources, and connections to overcome challenges and build brighter futures. Our History Shay Babies, Inc. was founded in 2019 after the loss of our beloved Shamala “Shay.” In her memory, we created a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting and serving communities in need. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, we proudly serve Harris County and surrounding areas without discrimination based on age, sex, race, or financial status. We are a grassroots organization that is completely self-funded, building our programs from the ground up with passion, dedication, and community support. From the beginning, our work has been rooted in healing, connection, and empowerment. Our first women’s event, Relax, Relate & Release, brought together powerful speakers who encouraged women overcoming domestic violence, leaving attendees inspired and renewed. Get It Off My Chest expanded our reach to support formerly incarcerated women and their children, creating a safe space for open testimonies, healing conversations, and encouragement. The event was so impactful that it also led to the recording of Shay Babies’ first single. The Paint with a Twist/Denim and Pearls Affair honored loved ones lost, offering a creative space for grief, remembrance, and unity across all backgrounds. In addition to these signature events, Shay Babies has offered cultural awareness through dance at community centers for youth. These programs teach not only the skill of dance but also the history and cultural significance behind it. We partner with schools to provide cultural awareness through dance for K–12 students and to distribute food to families in need during the holidays. We also host domestic violence workshops, including our interactive program at Texas Can Academy High School. In addition, we offer college readiness, job readiness, and entrepreneurship development programs to families in the community. Shay Babies has supported a mental health awareness nonprofit by connecting them to resources and speakers for their event, further extending the reach of important mental health initiatives. Through these heartfelt gatherings and ongoing programs, Shay Babies continues to provide resources, professional speakers, youth enrichment activities, cultural engagement, holiday food support, and educational, career, and mental health development programs, ensuring that families and individuals facing hardship know they are not alone.

What We Do

A part of Shay Babies includes hosting free community events with professional speakers and providing resources, education, and support to underserved communities. Our chapters focus on issues like domestic violence, female incarceration, single mothers, seniors, wellness, and at-risk youth. We also run Youth Community Enrichment Activities, partnering with schools to volunteer and deliver food and essential resources to families in need. Volunteers are welcome year-round.
