Who We Are

The Domestic Truth Foundation (DTF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Houston, Texas, dedicated to empowering survivors of domestic violence to rebuild their lives with safety, dignity, and purpose. We believe that healing begins with truth — and that every survivor deserves access to the resources, education, and community support needed to thrive beyond trauma. Our foundation provides a wide range of free programs and services, including crisis intervention, case management, emergency relocation and safety planning, empowerment coaching, art healing workshops, online courses, job readiness support, and self-defense training. Through our Art Healing Program, survivors of all ages find creative ways to process pain and rediscover their strength through meaningful artistic expression and reflection. Our Case Management Program connects individuals and families with vital resources such as housing, counseling, and legal aid. DTF is more than a nonprofit — it’s a movement for change. We are committed to justice system reform, advocating for stronger laws, survivor-centered policies, and a national offender registry to prevent future abuse. Our ultimate vision includes building a community center, safe housing, and wellness spaces where survivors can find long-term stability and empowerment. At the heart of everything we do is compassion, advocacy, and the unwavering belief that together, we can break the cycle of violence and build a safer future for all.

What We Do

At the Domestic Truth Foundation, we turn compassion into action. Our mission is to empower survivors of domestic violence by providing free, life-changing programs that support healing, safety, and long-term independence. Through our Art Healing Program, survivors use creative expression to process trauma, build confidence, and rediscover their sense of self. Our Case Management Program connects individuals and families to vital resources — from housing and counseling to legal support and crisis intervention. We also offer Empowerment Coaching to help survivors rebuild their lives with confidence and purpose, along with Job Readiness Support to prepare them for financial stability and independence. To ensure safety and preparedness, our Self-Defense Classes equip participants with practical techniques and self-confidence, while our Emergency Relocation and Safety Planning services provide immediate, confidential support for those escaping dangerous environments. Beyond direct services, DTF is committed to advocacy and reform — pushing for stronger protections for survivors, a national offender registry, and a justice system that truly prioritizes safety and accountability. Every program we offer is rooted in the belief that healing is possible, freedom is attainable, and survivors deserve not just to survive, but to thrive.
