Who We Are

As part of its mission, the organization strives to: • Rescue and care for stray and homeless dogs and cats. • Raise funds to cover medical expenses, food and supplies. • Foster and place animals in loving and suitable adoptive homes. • Educate the public about proper care of animals, and the importance of spay and neuter.

What We Do

Animal Justice League is a 100% volunteer-based, 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to reducing the homeless pet population through rescue, education and outreach. AJL originally focused its efforts in the Garden Oaks/Oak Forest area of Houston and has since expanded its reach into other parts of the city. Since its inception in 2015, Animal Justice League has: • Brought more than 3,050 animals into its program • Adopted over 2,068 animals into forever homes • Transported 958+ animals to other states • Since 2014, the TNR Group (trap-neuter-return) has coordinated the spay and neuter of more than 2,333 stray and/or feral cats • Provided 1,360+ free microchips to owned cats and dogs As a foster-based rescue, every animal AJL intakes – whether a stray roaming the neighborhood or pulled from death row at a local shelter – goes into the home of a volunteer. Volunteers and fosters are vital to AJL operations and day-to-day activities are dependent upon their support. Our two biggest priorities are adopting out animals and raising money to care for those animals. Community Outreach Community outreach and education are cornerstones of Animal Justice League’s mission and we continue this work by hosting free microchip events, participating in wellness clinics and spay/neuter events sponsored by other like-minded organizations and continuing our robust TNR program. We do this in the following ways: • Educate the public about proper care of animals and the importance of spay and neuter • TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) o Trap community cats, spay/neuter them, rabies vax, tip ear and return to same location o Returning cats to the location from which they came is extremely important and helps to avoid the vacuum effect • FREE microchip events for owned animals o Help reunite missing/lost pets o Pet pantries o These events help pet owners who want to do the right thing and just need a little help
