Who We Are
ERDT/SHARE!, a nonprofit educational foundation, has been successfully involved in providing positive cross-cultural experiences since 1974. All of us at ERDT/SHARE! strongly believe that cross-cultural exchange is fundamental to creating understanding and tolerance in a world that grows smaller every day. We truly believe the future of our children rests on developing friendships with people from other countries. Our programs are designed as cultural experiences that develop understanding and knowledge though positive personal experiences. Many of the senior staff in the ERDT/SHARE! has lived, worked, and/or studied overseas. Therefore, we bring firsthand cross-cultural experience to the organization.
What We Do
SHARE! families are diverse! Traditional two-parent families (with or without children), single parents or adults, and retired couples all make wonderful host families. Any adult with a safe, clean, loving environment is encouraged to host. Host families provide a bed and three meals a day, as well as a loving environment, friendship, and a desire to share American culture. As a host family, you may also choose your own student that best fits into your family from more than 20 countries, including Germany, France, Spain, Hong Kong, Thailand, Mongolia, Romania,Italy, Czech Republic, Belarus, Mexico, Morocco, Poland, Vietnam, Brazil and more! SHARE! students all speak English, come fully medically insured, and bring their own spending money for personal expenses. They attend the host family’s local high school for a school year or semester.
