We are currently looking for individuals over the age of 18 who are willing to assist the Canine Program at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) by volunteering to act as a decoy. Your role will be to carry a training aid through any area where Passenger Screening Canine is being conducted. The TSA canines are classified as passive response canines, meaning their actions are passively controlled and non-aggressive.
You will need to wear loose fitting clothing and bring a small carry-on type piece of luggage. For example, roller bag, backpack, laptop bag, etc. You can also actually be traveling the day of your assignment. Just give us at least 48 hours advance notice so we can add you on the schedule.
You must not have allergies to the following items; dogs, cotton, wool, latex, or adhesive strips as these items may be used as a part of the exercise. Please make sure that you are not afraid of dogs. Interested individuals please send an email with the subject line “TSA Decoy Volunteer” with your name, phone number, and availability to IAHK9Decoy@tsa.dhs.gov for more information. We can also be reached at (281) 848-2956 or (832) 840-9935. Thank you for your interest in helping our canine team maintain and improve their effectiveness!
