Cleanup Details: Location: Monument Inn, 4406 Independence Parkway, La Porte, TX 77571 Date: April 11, 2026 Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PMVolunteer Opportunities We have two ways to participate: General Cleanup Volunteer – Help remove trash; no data collection required. Data Collection Volunteer – Assist staff with a guided trash transect to collect and itemize debris. If you wish to participate as a Data Collection Volunteer, please arrive by 9:00 AM. No prior training neededWhat to Bring Clothes you can get dirty (long pants recommended, weather permitting) Closed-toed shoes Refillable water bottle Sunscreen & bug spray (also available onsite)We also ask that you complete the liability waiver ahead of time, using the link below. Complete Your Liability Waiver Please note that access to the cleanup area requires walking over rocks to reach the beach. This can take some coordination, and staff will be available to help guide and assist along the safest pathway. Expect uneven, beach-like terrain and areas with overgrowth. Volunteer: Event Support - Environmental Eduction Seminar for StudentsBlack United Fund of Texas is cohosting an event with TWST4Girls to tech students about conservation, the history of Houston’s Fifth Ward environment and give them hands on experience in gardening principles. We are looking for volunteers to assist with event set up and event clean up. This will involve setting up tables and chairs, ensuring stations have materials and provide general support to the staff and educators at the event. The event will start at 10am. If you are wanting to assist with event set up, please arrive by 9am. If you are wanting to assist with event clean up, please arrive by 12pm. We plan for volunteers to contribute for an hour during the set up and an hour during clean up. Volunteers are welcome to stay and participate in the event as well if they would like!
