Due to the nature of the patients’ conditions each volunteer will be required to go through required training to volunteer with our patients. Become part of our completely volunteer-based outreach in high human-trafficking areas! This outreach is crucial to reaching trafficking victims and sharing the Human Trafficking National Hotline in places away from their captors or employers.

Key Responsibilities include:

-- Speaking to businesses on behalf of UAHT and victims on Saturdays as your schedule permits.

-- Displaying the National Human Trafficking Hotline number in restrooms, back offices, kitchens, and storefronts -- places away from victims' captors and/or employers.

-- Entering data after each outreach activity is completed.

All volunteers who want to become part of the Volunteer Outreach Team must complete the orientation and training. (This is separate from the Volunteer Orientation that every volunteer must attend.)

Volunteer Outreach Orientation will cover the key duties, processes, script, impact, and time commitment needed to confidently speak to businesses on behalf of UAHT and trafficking victims.

If weather permits, orientation and training will take place outdoors in a park setting, and when weather doesn't permit, we'll meet in an accommodating coffee shop.

After the Orientation and Training presentation, we will drive to nearby businesses, and each participant will get to train with an experienced volunteer who will share their knowledge of the process.

Human trafficking occurs every day in our own communities. This crime continues to grow in the shadows of our society, and is one of the largest criminal industries in the world.

Victims of trafficking are subjected to force, fraud, or coercion for the purposes of sexual exploitation and/or forced labor.

Participants in Red Sand Projects fill cracks in sidewalks with red sand, a symbolic gesture that represents those individuals who fall through the cracks -- whether the cracks of our social, economic, and political systems or those of our personal consciousness.

We at UAHT want to highlight and remember the human trafficking victims who fall through those cracks in the greater Houston area, the very ones we make an effort each day to reach and help.

Our Red Sand Projects are meant to be volunteer-led and community-wide events, so if you'd like to host a project of your own -- whether it's in your neighborhood, your favorite park, your church, or an other public setting you'd like -- we strongly encourage you to do so!

The six-course, bi-weekly program -- called "The Art of Life" -- will cover a range of artistic expressions -- from collages to intuitive art to self-portraits -- and we are in need of supplies to ensure our participants have all the tools they need to let their creativity flow freely.

Freewheels Houston seeks volunteers to distribute bikes to refugees, veterans, unhoused people, and young people who need transportation for work and school. Our bikes are donated by members of the community and repaired by volunteers.

The bike you are not riding holds the key to freedom for a refugee, veteran or young person who needs a way to work or school. Donate your bike to Freewheels and our volunteers will clean and repair it and provide a way for people to get to work or school.

Our greatest need is for adult mountain bikes and hybrids with 26-inch and 700c wheels. We also need youth bikes with 24-inch wheels and 20-inch wheels.

Freewheels accepts bike donations on Friday and Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon  at our shop at 6020 Jessamine #103, Houston, TX 77081. If you have a question, please email us at info@freewheelshouston.org.

Our refugee and veteran customers rarely ask for road bikes or beach cruisers. We do not accept used helmets, children’s bikes, scooters or tag-alongs. If it’s not economic for Freewheels to repair a donated used bike, we often reclaim parts and components that can be used on other bikes. We have partnerships with people who will take bikes we don’t plan to repair and deliver them to organizations in Mexico.

When we receive a road bike, we may try to sell it and and use the proceeds to pay for parts, supplies, safety equipment and rent.

The Urban Farm Experience is the perfect team building opportunity for groups that have been working remotely for the past year or for those who want to take a break from the computer and bring your group out to the field! During your visit, your team will experience sustainability in action by participating in a project on one of PIF’s farms that will ultimately help create a green, healthy and vibrant Houston. Use this opportunity to initiate sustainability conversations with your team while learning about sustainable agriculture and food systems from PIF farmers and local experts.

The Front Desk Volunteer will:

Adults, if you are interested in learning about gardening, native plants, and invasive species join the Nature Discovery Center on the first  Monday of the month to help us care for the park. No experience is necessary but come dressed for the weather, bugs, and be prepared to get dirty. The Nature Discover Center is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual who has a passion for science, nature, and children to volunteer with our field trip program. This volunteer will work closely with our staff naturalists and other volunteer teachers to lead our discovery-based field trip program Nature at Your Doorstep. This individual will be a crucial member of the team in adding to the overall Nature Discovery Center field trip experience.

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at The Woods Project — including caring for the gear that makes our life-changing outdoor trips possible. Every summer we put our down-sleeping bags through a lot of use and by the end they are in desperate need of washing. Now is the time to prepare them for our upcoming weekend camping trips.

This fall’s Sleeping Bag Wash Day is on September 10th, and we’d love your help!

Mentors are integral partners in resettling refugees by providing extra care so that they may quickly become self-sufficient. Through weekly visits, mentors will assist refugees in realizing short-term goals while also providing an introduction to American culture and customs. Mentors are individuals that ease the transition to self-sufficiency by establishing a relationship with a refugee. A mentor’s goal is to assist a refugee in reaching self-sufficiency as quickly as possible through one-on-one guidance, advocacy, and individualized support.

Duties/Expectations-

Time Commitment- We ask that our volunteers commit to a duration of at least 4 months. Mentors and mentees should establish a more detailed schedule at their first meeting. Mentors must also attend a volunteer orientation and submit to a background check.

We are a nonprofit based in Houston focused on stabilizing the episodic and transitional homeless. Since 2016, we have been connecting individuals and families with Houston's many resources, community organizations, and homeless service providers to ensure stability, security, and success for our clients. In the last year, we have observed rapid growth in clients, partners, and community support. Despite the abundance of resources available to the homeless, many still face a large number of obstacles and challenges that often make even basic survival impossible. At The Village Connect, we have developed creative and alternative strategies for solving common problems affecting the episodic homeless population in Houston. Our focus on advocacy, goal setting, and game planning has culminated in a new service model which provides pathways for stability for our clients. However, in order to fully realize our model we need dedicated interns and volunteers that can help us reach our goals. We are looking to fill multiple positions. Children 4 Tomorrow is looking for an IT person to help set up a server with another volunteer within the organization and enter in data.

Children 4 Tomorrow is needing needing snacks and coffee for parenting classes and  snacks for Youth Group Therapy Classes.  

This can be in either in a form of a gift card to a grocery store or Sam's Wholesale or Costco OR the snacks and coffee themselves.  The organization has 2 Keurig Coffee Makers so the coffee needs to be the coffee pods.  

Children 4 Tomorrow has transition to virtual therapy for youth due to the pandemic.  We are in need of computers (laptops) for these youth in order  to participate in the therapy. 

The needs for our nonprofit organization are tremendous.  Our underserved communities are struggling to cope with the anxiety, depression, trauma and hopelessness that cause mental and physical illnesses. Its effect has been amplified due to the long duration of the pandemic quarantine in which none of us expected or planned for, and has caused havoc on the entire world.  Statistics now show that the issue of PTSD and trauma are on the rise in communities similar to ours due to the pandemic.

The program provides a virtual evidence-based protocol that provides mental health services in disaster aftermath crisis (such as trauma) and has fulfilled the mental health population’s needs since 2007.  

For some of these kids to participate in the program they need a laptop computer for the 2 week 6 session duration.  We will be able to loan out computer before the sessions and pick them up when the sessions are completed and move to another group of youth.

RAMP is a career-focused program for youth with disabilities involved with or at-risk of becoming involved with the juvenile justice system. Volunteers will serve as support and mentors to the youth. Mentors are needed during and, once a relationship is established with youth, possibly after school if that works for both the youth and mentor. RAMP is under our High School High Tech Program, a community-based partnership of parents, educators, rehabilitation professionals and business representatives working together to encourage high school students with disabilities to explore the fields of science, engineering and technology through mentoring, job skills, transition and internships for at-risk teens with disabilities. Includes campus meetings, company tours and internships.

Mentors must be at least 21 years old. Meetings are held at a high school in downtown Houston every Monday from 1:45pm-2:30pm. Mentors are NOT required to be at every meeting but are encouraged to attend as often as their schedule allows. We also encourage checking in with mentees via email or texts.

Every youth is one caring adult away from becoming a success story. You can be that caring adult and make a difference. We hope to work with you soon as a mentor with the RAMP program.

Our Afghan Support Groups in Houston promote health and wellness through separate men’s and women’s groups, as well as co-ed workshops. Sessions occur 1-2 times a week for two hours and provide a space for connection, skill-building, and community support.

We are looking for followers of Jesus who love soccer and are passionate about helping kids develop strong life skills and values. We provide free soccer practice at various local schools in Alief ISD Monday-Thursday 5:00-6:30pm. As a volunteer, you would be working with the head coach to follow the provided practice curriculum. The curriculum guides you through warm ups, soccer technique, drills, and activities. The unique thing about our program is that all of our soccer sessions are based around a Bible story and life value. We use soccer as a tool to instill valuable life lessons about character and personal development into the players. In this role, you will retrieve, transport, and deliver blood samples from area crossmatch facilities to our headquarters located behind NRG Stadium, using a company vehicle. All volunteer drivers will go through a volunteer orientation, background check, drug screen, road test and complete defensive driving training provided by The Blood Center to ensure the safety of the volunteers as well as the products. Volunteer drivers are asked to commit to 2-4 driving shifts per months with a four hour per shift minimum. Volunteer drivers will receive materials about the program and its policies, essential contact information, a T-shirt, and a personalized volunteer badge. Their shift will begin at the Hospital Services department, where they will sign in and receive their vehicle and route assignments.

Bike MS is the fundraising cycling series of the National MS Society and raises more money than any other cycling event for any other cause. Even though we are unable to meet in-person this year, our Bike MS team is still determined to make an impact. To date, Bike MS cyclists, volunteers, and donors have raised more than $1.3 billion to stop MS in its tracks, restore what's been lost, and end MS forever. frightfully important community cleanup event organized by SPLASh! On November 1, volunteers of all
ages will come together to clean Houston’s bayous, learn from local environmental organizations, and
participate in our costume swap!

Houston’s bayous are critical ecosystems, supporting a wide range of species and serving as vital
stopover points for migratory birds. However, these waterways often become polluted with trash and
debris, posing a serious threat to the wildlife that depend on them.

Our “Spook-A-Clean” event is
designed to tackle this issue head-on while bringing a festive, family-friendly atmosphere to
environmental action.

What Stylists Do:

We provide styling guidelines and training, so while an understanding of business attire is preferred, it’s not required. You'll learn how to select the right attire for various vocations and industries.

You can help by conducting a workplace or community diaper drive to help Two Sisters Helping Hand, Incorporated. Two Sisters Helping Hand, Incorporated mission is to be a committed force in helping others, working collaboratively with community leaders, humanitarians, and other organizations. We are dedicated to enriching lives and being a valuable helping hand to those in need. Through our services and programs, we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of low-income families and individuals, providing them with essential support and resources to thrive. By focusing on results and fostering a collaborative approach, we aim to create lasting change and empower our communities.

ThriftWise is a resale store supporting the Fort Bend Women’s Center, and we’re looking for volunteers to help keep things running smoothly. Volunteers assist with sorting donations, helping customers, and organizing displays.

Volunteer anytime between 10 AM and 6 PM, 7 days a week—whatever fits your schedule

No experience needed, just a willingness to help

Volunteers aged 8 and up are welcome (ages 8–14 should be accompanied by a parent)
