Commitment of a minimal of  4 hours a week.

Purpose:  Serves as a volunteer for Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center mobile drives and community events.

 

Responsibilities:

WHAT do volunteers do?

Our volunteers help with all aspects of our life-saving operation. Cypress Assistance Ministries (CAM) is partnering with some area grocery stores to help provide food for our food pantry. We just need some helpful individuals to pick up the donations from these retailers and help deliver them to CAM's facility.

Programs like this are wonderful resources for CAM, as they help us source items that would be otherwise difficult to source (such as bakery items and produce), and they help reduce food waste in our community.

Volunteers must have access to a vehicle suitable for transporting food items (an SUV or minivan would work perfectly, a sedan with sufficient trunk space would work as well). We will provide insulated bags.

This could include an array of behaviors. Maybe they're afraid of other dogs, or scared of loud trucks outside. We will fully train you on dog body language, enrichment, and reactivity so you are able to safely work with these dogs to help rehabilitate them and in turn find their forever homes! This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity that other shelters don't offer. If you truly love dogs and want to learn more about how to care for them, this opportunity is for you!

Interested in becoming an ESL Tutor?

Assist individuals in the Northside community who are learning English, meeting on a regular basis to walk with students through studying and test taking process.

Your role as an ESL teacher or tutor is one of championing future success of the Northside community as neighbors work to learn the English language. 

You do not need any special training. You can start out helping with the student activities as they practice their English and as you get comfortable you will have the opportunity to lead a class if you choose.

We are currently seeking ESL tutors on the following days and times:

Tuesdays and Thursdays
Basic Level: 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Level 1: 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Level 2: 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Level 3: 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.


Time Commitment 

Volunteers are requested to commit to teaching for the length of the semester. It can be multiple classes on Tuesday and Thursday or one class, one day a week.

Our ESL program follows the academic year schedule, August through May, with breaks for holidays and in between semesters. 

We believe this time commitment is necessary to foster relationships based on trust, respect, and the love of Christ, and will allow the volunteer to see the direct benefit of their role as a mentor/tutor.

We’re seeking bilingual volunteers to assist with our 10-week Microsoft Word course for adult learners. Volunteers may help participants navigate computers, understand key Word functions, and encourage learners as they build valuable digital literacy skills. No teaching experience required—just patience, kindness, and a love for sharing knowledge!

Overview: Project C.U.R.E. is seeking a mission-driven, detail-oriented Donor Relations Manager to serve as a key volunteer supporting donor engagement and relationship development. This remote role works closely with the Executive Director to help build a strong donor pipeline, manage relationships, and coordinate communications that lead to long-term support of our life-saving mission.

Manage and track donor opportunities and relationship progress in the CRM system (donor database of record)Follow up with donors to thank them for their gifts via phone or handwritten notesCoordinate donor meetings by scheduling directly with the Executive Director and donor contacts

Qualifications:

Hospice volunteers provide a variety of direct and indirect services to patients and their families. Visits to provide companionship, caregiver relief, errands, music therapy, pet therapy, and other services are examples of direct services. Phone calls, pen-pals, and special projects like blanket crafting are examples of indirect services. Volunteers can also get involved with administrative support by assisting in the office. Participate in events at assisted living such as bingo or karaoke. Attend fairs to recruit volunteers at campuses. Hand out flyers to the community to recruit volunteers.

What hospice volunteer does is determined by their abilities and interests.

Hospice volunteers provide a variety of direct and indirect services to patients and their families. Visits to provide companionship, caregiver relief, errands, music therapy, pet therapy, and other services are examples of direct services. Phone calls, pen-pals, and special projects like blanket crafting are examples of indirect services. Volunteers can also get involved with administrative support by assisting in the office. Participate in events at assisted living such as bingo or karaoke. Attend fairs to recruit volunteers at campuses. Hand out flyers to the community to recruit volunteers.

What hospice volunteer does is determined by their abilities and interests.

Volunteer: Volunteer Event Associate - North Houston

Purpose:  Serves as a volunteer for Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center mobile drives and community events.

 

Responsibilities:

At mobile drives, secures the Volunteer Kit from the mobile staff prior to the start of the blood drive and returns to staff at the end of shift. At mobile drives, neatly sets up table using materials from the Volunteer Kit prior to the start of the drive. Assists with placement of Blood Drive Today yard signage. Invites people to donate. At mobile drives, escorts donors to screening areas. Encourages donors to Commit for Life as a donor and/or volunteer. Assists in keeping the refreshment area tidy. Observes donors for reactions. Notifies TBC staff if the donor has a reaction. Answers basic questions. Other duties as needed.
