Adult Education Volunteer Greeters have a vital role in helping BakerRipley students and staff with associated equipment, providing basic information about Adult Education programs and answering general questions by email, phone, and from neighbors. The Volunteer Greeter is also the first point of contact for visitors and is essential in creating a warm, welcoming and positive first impression.Location: 6655 Rookin St. Houston Tx., 77074Time Commitment: 6 weeksShift Available: 8:30am-12:30pm, 12:30pm-4:30pm
What will I need to do?Check emails and voicemails, and return phone calls as needed, to provide information.Make copies.Greet neighbors and answer general questions about Adult Education programs.Set up for workshops, clean and restock areas after use.Use the Front Desk end-of-shift form to ask questions, request additional training, provide details about shift successes, challenges, etc. We really want to make this a pleasant experience for you, so this form will be completed at the end of each shift.Communicate with the Volunteer Coordinator role successes, challenges, trends, areas for improvement, etc.What's required of me to be successful in this role?Cultural Sensitivity and Mutual Respect: Ability to interact professionally with students of diverse backgrounds, developing a rapport with students as the primary drivers of their own learning and success.Good Interpersonal & Communication skills: Willing to work with students, instructors and staff in a personal, one-on-one setting.Willing to troubleshoot, unafraid of failure, adaptable to change and a curious mind open to learning new tools and thinking creatively.Have basic office administration skills (or be willing to learn): answering phone calls, retrieving voicemails, checking emails, and making copies.The Adult Education Volunteer Greeter training will involve shadowing experienced staff, interactive sessions, and hands-on learning.What will you gain from the experience?Professional growth and references verify work experienceAn incredible learning experience helping neighbors and impacting their lives.An opportunity to collaborate with a passionate adult education team who will engage and support you during your service.Immersion into the BakerRipley culture and community impact.Connection to BakerRipley divisions and opportunities for networking.
