Volunteer: Pantry ShopperWHAM is focused on helping those in crisis return to self-sustainability. Our pantry distributes nutritious food Tuesday - Friday. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, our clients have appointments to shop inside the pantry to choose the food they want from the stocked shelves, refrigerators and freezers. We need volunteers to advise clients of the allotted number of items, help load/unload carts and keep the shelves stocked, as well as sort and package fresh produce and food items. On Fridays from 7:30am - 12:00pm we host a Drive through Food distribution serving 150 families or more. Volunteers would assist with any of the following: client intake, direct traffic, load fresh produce and dry goods into trunks of cars, bag fresh produce and other items, and light clean up. What is grown is distributed through our food pantry and given to our clients to help with food insecurities. We have several volunteers, including a Master Gardener, who are trying to maintain the demands of the flourishing garden. Are you experienced in growing vegetables in the Houston climate and knowledgeable about seasonal schedules? Are you willing to make a commitment to 2 - 3 mornings a week to contribute to keeping our garden thriving and producing vegetables? If so, pleasese reach out to patrice.stpe@whamministires,org.
