Position: Volunteer Academic Aide Schedule: What You’ll Do: As a Volunteer Academic Aide, you will be paired with a group of students and assist them as they move through their daily classes and activities. Our students participate in Reading, Math, Art, Social Skills, PE, Music, lunch, and enrichment activities throughout the day. Volunteers help create a supportive, encouraging, and positive learning environment where students can continue growing academically, socially, and independently. Volunteer Responsibilities Include: Classroom Support: Individual Student Support: Lunch & Enrichment Assistance: General Program Support: Requirements: Volunteers must be 18 years or older and available for the full academic day from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. A successful volunteer should be patient, encouraging, dependable, and excited to work with our students. Experience working with individuals with special needs is a plus, but it is not required. A willing heart and positive attitude go a long way! All volunteers must be able to pass a background check and attend a training session before beginning. This is a great opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of adults with Down syndrome while lending your skills and leadership to a growing nonprofit. What We’re Looking For: Board Members from all backgrounds who are passionate about inclusion and willing to support the organization through advocacy, fundraising, and participation in events. Treasurer with experience in finance, bookkeeping, accounting, or nonprofit financial oversight. (Familiarity with QuickBooks or nonprofit budgeting is a plus.)
