Our mentoring program is designed to support the growth of our students on the fields, in school, and in life. Mentors are matched with a SpringSpirit participant in grades 3-12 and commit to meet in person at least once a month.  Mentors must submit to a background check and go through an orientation process before being matched with a mentee.  2 locations in Northern Spring Branch.

Child Watch volunteers engage with our clients' children, ages 4 to 11. Child Watch is open on Saturdays and Thursday evenings.

Members of our Professional Women's Group can leave their children in the center while they're in the building for workshops and professional growth programs. This is an important service because it helps to guarantee that childcare is not a barrier to women who are seeking to change and improve their lives.

Responsibilities: Volunteers will engage and interact in developmentally appropriate activities while in the Child Watch room. They will maintain a safe and positive environment for the children. This may mean leading a craft, reading, etc. Volunteers will also be responsible for dispensing snacks and drinks and cleaning up the room at the end of the shift.

Bayou Village School is a small non-profit elementary school located in the Near Northside community. We have a fledgling chess club, started last year under the supervision of parent volunteers. Chess club participants are in 2nd-6th grade (ages 7 through 11). Typically there are 10-15 students who participate. Two parent volunteers are present for each chess club gathering for behavior management and hands-on support. 

We are seeking a person or people with chess awareness and ability- you do not have to have prior experience as a chess coach (but it would be a plus!) Students in our chess club have a good mastery of the basics and are ready to take their play to the next level. Chess club meeting days can be flexible- we typically meet twice a month from 3:30-5pm. Days can be selected that work with the coach's schedule!

We provide free soccer practice at various local schools in Alief ISD Monday-Thursday 5:00-6:30pm. As a volunteer, you would be working with the head coach to follow the provided practice curriculum. These events are particularly rewarding because volunteers can see the immediate impact of their efforts, making a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.

Programs like this are wonderful resources for CAM, as they help us source items that would be otherwise difficult to source (such as bakery items and produce), and they help reduce food waste in our community.

Volunteers must have access to a vehicle suitable for transporting food items (an SUV or minivan would work perfectly, a sedan with sufficient trunk space would work as well). We will provide insulated bags.

We need weekly drivers for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. You may choose to volunteer for one, two, or all three of these pick-ups.

No professional HR experience required, just a willingness to help others succeed!

In this interactive volunteer session, you'll help individuals prepare for job interviews by conducting mock interviews using a question template and evaluation form provided by our Job Readiness Training Instructor. Volunteers will offer constructive feedback on interview responses, body language, and professionalism to help participants build confidence and improve their interviewing skills. No prior hiring experience is necessary, just a desire to support others on their path to employment!
