The ECDC - Houston Multicultural Center is looking for women to volunteer as volleyball and basketball coaches to support our Refugee Health Promotions program. This opportunity is open to anyone with a foundational understanding of these sports, and a willingness to support women learn and play together.

Practice will take place biweekly on Saturdays from 10am - 12pm at the Ashford Pointe apartment complex.

Alzheimer's Association Support Group facilitators create a safe, open environment where people share their feelings, thoughts and experiences in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared problems of dementia. This support group will be meeting virtually for the time being.

Note: You'll be training to serve as a co-facilitator with an experienced facilitator for a group that meets regularly.

Qualifications:

· Ability to be empathetic and separate personal needs from group needs.

· Strong listening and effective communication skills.

· Ability to redirect and facilitate discussion as well as fulfill the duties and responsibilities as described in the Facilitator Agreement.

· Commitment to promote the mission and services of the Association and willingness to act as an extension of the Association.

As a volunteer with the R&P program, you will support the case management team in helping newly arrived refugees during their initial resettlement period. Responsibilities include assisting with documentation, organizing case files, helping with core service delivery (such as arranging transportation and setting up housing), and performing light administrative tasks. Volunteers will also assist with preparing materials for cultural orientation sessions and help clients with the completion of paperwork related to public benefits and social services. As a PC program volunteer, you will assist in providing intensive case management (ICM) services to vulnerable refugee populations, including those with medical needs, disabilities, or social adjustment issues. You will support case managers in client communication, documentation, and referrals to essential services such as healthcare, employment, and mental health services. Volunteers play an important role in helping vulnerable individuals navigate complex systems and achieve self-sufficiency. This role is ideal for volunteers interested in social work, healthcare navigation, or working with underserved populations.

You will support employment counselors in preparing clients for job applications, interviews, and employment readiness. Additionally, volunteers will help with data entry, tracking employment outcomes, and organizing job-related documentation. This role is perfect for those with an interest in workforce development or helping individuals become self-sufficient through employment.

The Quality Assurance Support Volunteer will assist in organizing, maintaining, and auditing client case files across multiple programs, including Reception and Placement (R&P), Matching Grant (MG), Preferred Communities (PC) and Social Integration Microenterprises (SIMED). The volunteer will be responsible for ensuring that all documentation is up-to-date, secure, and easily accessible, while also providing language interpretation when needed, supporting data entry, reporting, and system development for efficient file management.

This role involves collaboration with various program teams to ensure adherence to grant requirements, particularly regarding file management and security. The volunteer will also participate in team meetings to contribute to progress reports and help develop strategies for improving quality assurance.

This role offers valuable experience in refugee resettlement, program administration, and compliance management. The volunteer will gain hands-on experience in case management, employment counseling, and the operational side of federally funded refugee programs.

Program Support and Compliance
• File Management: Organize and maintain both physical and electronic client case files. Ensure that documentation for all programs (R&P, MG, PC, etc.) is up to date, easily accessible, and secure.
• Data Entry & Reporting: Perform accurate data entry for case documentation, service provision, and client outcomes when needed. Utilize SharePoint and Refugee Management System to manage data files, generate reports, and track program progress.
• Document Management System Development: Assist in creating and implementing systems to streamline document storage and retrieval processes. Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
• Clerical Support: Provide additional support by preparing reports, memos, and other correspondence. Collaborate with team members to gather necessary data for document audits and other administrative tasks.

Cross-Program Collaboration
• Collaboration with Other Programs: Work with other teams, such as the Reception and Placement (R&P) Matching Grant (MG), Preferred Communities (PC) and Social Integration (SI) to ensure that programs are following grant requirements with respect to file management and security.
• Departmental Meetings: Participate in team meetings to discuss findings, progress reports, and strategies for improving quality assurance.

The ECDC-Houston Multicultural Center will be offering English classes to the newest members of our community. We are looking for volunteers to help facilitate beginner English classes.

Inspire, Equip, and Encourage the Next Generation

MENtorUP is a Saturday mentoring program designed to connect middle and high school young men with positive male role models who can guide, encourage, and inspire them.

Through group discussions, life skills sessions, and shared experiences, mentors help young men develop character, confidence, and a vision for their future. Our sessions include practical topics such as responsibility, leadership, career readiness, and healthy relationships—paired with fun activities like sports, field trips, college trips, retreats, and community service projects.

By showing up consistently, mentors build trust and provide the encouragement these young men need to navigate school, relationships, and life beyond the classroom.

West Houston Assistance Ministries has eleven (11) thriving raised beds who need more love and attention. What is grown is distributed through our food pantry and given to our clients to help with food insecurities.  We have several volunteers, including a Master Gardener, who are trying to maintain the demands of the flourishing garden.

WHAM is in need of Pantry Shoppers Tuesday - Thursday from 7:30am - 12:00pm and 12:30pm - 3:30pm to assist our clients shop the pantry shelves, refrigerators and freezer.  Volunteers would advise the clients the number allowed of each item, help load and unload and restock as needed.

Volunteers Needed!  We need about 5-10 people to sort clothing donations for WHAM Resale Store. Attention to detail a plus. HOURS: Flexible, Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5pm

PAIR operates Global Learners programs in three middle schools with significant refugee populations. PAIR volunteer mentors engage students by providing supportive relationships, homework assistance, English language practice, and recreational and creative activities.

Sessions take place after school, 4-6PM. Each session begins with outside games, homework help, and sharing time to transition from the school day. Mentors then break off with a small group of students to work on a lesson or activity centered around a particular theme. Global Learners assists participants in developing more positive attitudes towards school, achieving greater academic success, developing more positive relationships with peers and adults, and continuing their education through high school and beyond.

Volunteering with the Learners program requires a semester-long commitment of 10 program sessions.

Warehouse volunteers Work in the back of the store handling incoming donations and as needed in the front assisting customers with moving large items to their vehicles. Warehouse duties requie volunteers to a.) Lift and sort through bags and boxes of donations. b.) Use approved guidelines fpr proper sorting of quality merchandise. c.) Place donated items in the proper areas of the back. d.) Greet and assist the donors and provide tax receipts. e.) Assist to ensure that the store & warehouse are neat and orderly for the next business day f.) Demonstrate the ability to listen to instructions and learn from those instructions g.) Always display a pleasant, positive, customer service attitude. h.) Wear proper safety equipment.

WHAM is in need of volunteers to accompany our pantry and resale store drivers to pick up donated furniture and household items as well as donations from local restaurants and grocery stores.  The pantry driver shift is 6:00am - 12:00pm. The resale driver shift is 9:00am - 2:00pm.  

Volunteers must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb into the cab of the box truck, and move independently.

WHAM Homeless Walk-Up Distribution volunteers work at our Walk-up tent every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

West Houston Assistance Ministries is seeking volunteers to serve as cashiers at its Second Blessing Store. The position requires volunteers to perform cash register operations such as handling all the cash or credit transactions, excellent interpersonal communication, issue change and receipts, greet customers when entering or leaving establishment, and other related customer service duties. To be considered, you must be able to assist shoppers with a positive, friendly attitude. Volunteer applicants must be able to read and write and perform basic math functions. Pleasantly deal with customers to ensure positive satisfaction and the ability to use the Point of Sale Systems (POS).

Hours are flexible and partial shifts are available, Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

1. Call comes in and CSR answers 2. Call is recorded and transcribed using an AI tool like JOG.AI (the whole conversation will be transcribed in company’s CRM) 3. AI determines important areas of customer calls based on Keywords that the Customer says like "Sign Up" or "I am frustrated" or "I would like to cancel my service" 4. Based on the keywords stated by Customer, the company’s platform will generate a suggested plan of action along with a template to respond via Email or SMS Examples include: If (customer says "Sign Up") then (AI will suggest emailing "Sign Up" form template) --this will ensure management that the appropriate customers looking to Sign Up for a service receive the appropriate follow up and should increase overall sales and reduce lost leads If (customer says "I would like to cancel my service" or "I want a refund" or "I’m really unhappy/not happy with the service I received") then (AI will suggest emailing or sending an SMS for a free month of service to try to keep customer) Company CRM platform will automatically add the Customer’s name and voice transcription into a Record. The Record will also contain all logs of emails and texts with the Customer in chronological order so any CSR and Manager can see the entire lifecycle of Customer communication end-to-end. We distribute food in a drive through format every Thursday starting Dec 14, 2023. Help is needed for setup, distribution tear down, and clean up for the event. This will be a outdoors event. The Down Syndrome Association of Houston has a soccer program which meets weekly. We need volunteers to help teach basic skills and to make sure the coaching sessions are fun and fulfilling.

The HMC is proud to be home to soccer programs for our refugee youth. The Eagles (boys) and The Golden Eagles (girls).

The teams meet and play on the first and third Saturdays of each month, at the IndoorSoccerBox, located at 1530 W Sam Houston Pkwy N. Beginning in November, we'll be meeting at Burnett Bayland Park in Southwest Houston.

We are looking for someone with soccer experience to serve as a referee and informal coach to help facilitate 1 hour of girls soccer. It is a very casual league, the girls would benefit from the experience of someone 18+.

Opossum and Pals Volunteers work up-close with nature in this busy emergency wildlife center where thousands of ill, injured and abandoned wildlife are admitted. Help is needed to care and feed the many orphaned wild animals that come to our facility during the year. Volunteer duties: feed wildlife, clean cages, prepare special diets, and the opportunity to learn special skills like administering hydration fluids sub-cutaneously, administering medication, and tubing of doves and opossums.  

Positions are open for Animal Caregivers who must be at least 18 years of age, and willing to learn and participate in all skills.  Positions for Animal Helpers are also available for those who only want to participate in the care and feeding of animals but not administer any medical duties. Helpers must be at least 14 years of age.

TWRC is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves the community as an emergency and rehabilitative facility for injured and orphaned wildlife brought in by the public for eventual release back into the wild.  Our educational offerings foster empathy and understanding about the value and the need to preserve our natural resources.  TWRC was established in 1979 as the first wildlife facility in Houston and receives annually over 5,000 wild animals from 392 different species.  

This non-paid internship is designed to foster and encourage individual growth in a candidate who is interested in wildlife, environmental science, or veterinary science careers. The intern will participate in all aspects of a fast-paced wildlife facility and participate in team meetings, training sessions, and attend workshops available through or offered by TWRC.

This is a part time, seasonal position and the main responsibilities will be monitoring and assisting volunteers in the feeding and housing needs of our animals. Intern Supervisors will also be working closely with critical and compromised animals and providing limited medical care to them. Candidates must be willing to comply with TWRC policies and procedures.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the completion of the tasks in the Animal Care Program.

· Training and on-going mentoring of volunteers in the program.

· Communicate closely with the Assistant Managers and other Shift Supervisors.

· Attend mandatory training sessions

· Attend Shift Supervisor meetings as needed.

· Inform Animal Care Manager of any disruptions in the room that need immediate attention.

· Responsible for admitting animals into the program.

· Keep correct tracking of animals and their paperwork during their stay in the program.

· Responsible for setting up special caging and preparing diets for the squirrels.

· Responsible for logging and administering medications to the animals.

Volunteers are needed to spend time with our hospice patients.

We at Encompass are looking for compassionate, patience, loving volunteers to spend time with our patients. They need and want someone to share their final days with and we want people with a nurturing nature to give them that most basic of needs, human contact. You would spend time with the patients talking, listening, playing games or anything the patient would want or possibly need.

Our offices are in the S Houston and Woodlands area but we have patients all over the Greater Houston Area and Woodlands. The training would be done in our Houston office but the opportunity would be in the Mission Bend Area.

Due to the nature of the patients’ conditions each volunteer will be required to go through required training to volunteer with our patients. The process to become a volunteer takes a little bit but the rewards of giving your time to these patients is beyond measurable. You can give these people a final dignity in their darkest hour. TWRC has a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys coordinating, organizing and working with people.  TWRC is primarily a volunteer organization, with only a few year-round employees and a few seasonal employees.

Revival Sport (revivalsport.org) serves the refugee and immigrant communities of Houston, TX. We are looking for a few tutors to assist us in providing academic support to students who are struggling.

We specifically need tutors for:

-high school classes like Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, and Chemistry

-All grades English

If you are skilled in this subject matter and passionate about empowering local youth, please reach out to us! Tutoring would be one evening per week, or every other week depending on availability.

frightfully important community cleanup event organized by SPLASh! On November 1, volunteers of all
ages will come together to clean Houston’s bayous, learn from local environmental organizations, and
participate in our costume swap!

Houston’s bayous are critical ecosystems, supporting a wide range of species and serving as vital
stopover points for migratory birds. However, these waterways often become polluted with trash and
debris, posing a serious threat to the wildlife that depend on them.

Our “Spook-A-Clean” event is
designed to tackle this issue head-on while bringing a festive, family-friendly atmosphere to
environmental action.

We are looking for followers of Jesus who love soccer and are passionate about helping kids develop strong life skills and values. We provide free soccer practice at various local schools in Alief ISD Monday-Thursday 5:00-6:30pm. As a volunteer, you would be working with the head coach to follow the provided practice curriculum. The curriculum guides you through warm ups, soccer technique, drills, and activities. The unique thing about our program is that all of our soccer sessions are based around a Bible story and life value. We use soccer as a tool to instill valuable life lessons about character and personal development into the players. This is why we request that applicants be strongly committed to their Christian faith, because as a coach, you are also a role model. In this role, you’ll make phone calls to clients to share information about our free civics classes, which help prepare adults for the citizenship exam. Your calls help ensure more people can access the resources they need to succeed. 

As a volunteer, you will: 

You don’t need to speak another language or have prior experience—just a welcoming attitude and a desire to support others on their citizenship journey. If you do speak a language like Spanish, Dari, Pashto, Arabic, or Urdu, that’s a wonderful bonus!

Volunteer shifts available Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Training and scripts are provided. 

Volunteers are needed to supervise approximately 25 children while mothers participate in required therapeutic programming on-site. Children's ages range from 1 to 17.

Activities with children range from holding/rocking infants, completing puzzles, board games, and supervision while playing outside (ex. bike riding, playing basketball, playing on the playground, etc.). This volunteer opportunity may occur indoors or outdoors (weather dependent). Moms will be attending their TC meetings from 7:00-8:15 PM on Tuesday evenings, so volunteers are asked to arrive at 6:45 PM to facilitate drop-off before TC. This shift will end at approximately 8:30 PM, once all moms have finished with their meeting and have arrived to pick up their children. Individual volunteers must be age 16 or older to sign up. Youth volunteers (ages 15 and younger) are welcome to volunteer along with their families but must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Volunteers are needed to spend time with our hospice patients.
