Until then, we’ll be innovating, improving and tracking results to find the most effective ways to save lives. As a dog behavior volunteer, you will work hand-in-hand with our behavior staff and learn how to work with the dogs in our program. The dogs that live at the shelter are dogs that we have not been able to get out into a foster home due to reactivity that needs to be managed. This could include an array of behaviors. Maybe they're afraid of other dogs, or scared of loud trucks outside. We will fully train you on dog body language, enrichment, and reactivity so you are able to safely work with these dogs to help rehabilitate them and in turn find their forever homes! This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity that other shelters don't offer. If you truly love dogs and want to learn more about how to care for them, this opportunity is for you!As a dog behavior volunteer, you will help provide various enrichment needs to our dogs (think kongs and nose work!). Enrichment volunteers are essential to help improve the daily lives of our dogs at the shelter.* Our Behavior volunteer program is a five-step program, and you'll start out as a BV1 volunteer (behavior volunteer - level 1). Our behavior program is truly one-of-a-kind. You'll learn such much, like how animals communicate, different types of enrichment, how to read body language, learning theory, and so much more. Current Behavior Dog Volunteer shifts from from 2-5PM every day - including weekends. Sign up today to help our dogs get the socialization and enrichment that they deserve! PLEASE NOTE, ONCE YOU HAVE REGISTERED YOUR INTEREST YOU WILL NEED TO WAIT TO BE CONTACTED BY A MEMBER OF OUR VOLUNTEER DEPARTMENT WHO WILL TAKE YOU THROUGH THE TRAINING NEEDED.
