Hello i'm looking for someone to help me get my nonprofit up and running. I am a bit of an introvert so speaking engagements and going after donations are not my strong suite. I'm looking for someone who can take charge and have experience in nonprofit. My org is very new and is in need of some serious help.

After our students finish the high school program of Higher Up Texas, they move into HUT Phase 2. Here, we provide support via group virtual meetings, one on one check ins, mailed care packages, letters of encouragement, and any resources needed to help answer questions and find solutions towards reaching career goals. 

Our HUG-A-HUT is a box of care items that you can send in the mail and the student will receive it. Items can include candy, tea, candle, journal, motivational book, crossword books, coloring books, fast food gift card, and most importantly- a note of encouragement. Things to help ease their minds and feel comforted as they begin life after high school! 

HUG-A-HUT is a socially distanced way to share the love to a student needing some encouragement in life!

We need someone with administrative skills such as filing, copying, and other administrative tasks.  Also, must have computer skills including Excel.  Tasks in Excel include creating spreadsheets,  entering data into spreadsheet. Attention to details.  Need one volunteer once a week.  Shift would be any day between Monday and Friday.  Shift can be morning for afternoon for 3 hours. Thank you.  Additional shifts available.

The Houston Humane Society Pet Pantry supports Houston residents in caring for their pets by providing free pet food and supplies to those well-meaning pet owners needing assistance. We have supplied over 4 MILLION MEALS to hungry pets... and counting!

Help us by handing out pet food to pet owners in need! Meet us at the following locations and times (see link below) to assist in handing out food to the pet owners needing assistance. All events are outdoors, please wear weather-appropriate clothing. Volunteers are recommended to bring sunscreen, a hat or sunglasses, and water with them. Most events are at parks, churches, and community centers in the parking lot. Clients come in drive-thru style and we load directly from our truck to their vehicles. Volunteers may be asked to lift up to 30 pounds.

This opportunity may require a high level of activity. You may be on your feet for 2-3 hours at a time. This activity is outdoors and is subject to inclement weather such as high heat, wind, and rain. If a high chance of rain or storms is predicted, we may cancel the event and inform you.

Travel Unity volunteers work with passionate travel and nonprofit professionals with wide-ranging skills. An appreciation for the value of travel in the lives of a diverse population where some are often impeded is key to this role.

The Disaster Action Team Duty Officer ensures timely activation and monitoring of local and regional Disaster Action Team (DAT) responses.

Volunteers who service as Duty Officers communicate with both fire departments as well as clients in remote settings. They work to complete the initial assessment of the situation and dispatch volunteers to respond as needed. 

Volunteer needed specifically to provide review support for three teams 1) Montgomery, Walker, San Jacinto and Polk Counties,  2) Galveston, Chambers, & Liberty Counties and 3) Fort Bend, Brazoria, Wharton, Matagorda & Colorado Counties.  Volunteer does not need to live in those counties to be a member of that team for this role.

 We are looking for 25 dedicated volunteers for 21 fundraising nights at Minute Maid Park! Not all volunteers will be required to attend every event night.

A little about us:

CDH Stars and Angels is a nonprofit patient advocacy organization based in Houston, Texas that offers a range of support services nationwide to families of children born with the severe birth defect Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). CDH is a condition that develops in utero when the muscle dividing the chest from the abdomen, the diaphragm, fails to close. The results of this failure, while sometimes treatable, can be fatal.

We provide small grants to the families experiencing CDH to pay for medical treatments and related travel, and, when needed, funeral expenses. We also provide care packages to CDH-affected families, raise awareness of this defect, and advocate for patient-centered research in partnership with organizations whose goals align with ours.

We are developing a two-year transitional housing program designed to serve homeless families. Currently, we're seeking someone to write grants which will help us to soon open our doors. Distribution of Emergency Supplies (DES) provides more than one item to more than one individual at one time. Traditionally, this has been clean up items, flashlights, food coolers, gloves, etc. 

This position is responsible for the overall execution of DES within the region including:
1. Serve as District DES Lead or DRO DES Lead during operations
2. Oversee overall DES program, ensuring current DES guidance is observed
3. Ensure effective planning for DES operations
4. Ensure adequate supplies for DES operations
5. Ensure adequate partnerships are pre-identified to address DES needs identified in regional plans and coordinate DES operational plans and manage expectations around DES capability, capacity and reporting
6. Build DES capacity and capability through recruitment, training and mentoring
7. Serve as the Red Cross subject matter expert in distribution of emergency supplies program guidance and tools

Qualifications

This Lead will envision a team’s impact in Mass Care and inspire the team into action. Volunteers will help with sorting, helping with incoming donations (unloading cars), restocking shelves, packing food boxes, cleaning, and making sure that the pantry if ready for distribution on the following day (filling goody bags, toiletry bags, etc).

Cornerstone Family Resource Center in partnership with The Pointe at Crestmont is sponsoring summer food distribution for children and teens residing in their community.  The Pointe at Crestmont is a low-income, tax credit community that provides reduced rent and social service supports for its residents.   During the summer months children and teens often go without the essential food that they received at school.  We are looking for volunteer groups to conduct food drives of essential items and distribute the food to the residents during the summer months (June, July, August).  The distributions are schedule for the 1st and 3rd Saturday each month however additional days may be added.  Groups may choose one or more days to volunteers.

UAHT has launched a virtual Men’s Accountability Discussion Group to end the demand for sex trafficking and is looking for male participants. The group will use the Stopping Sexual Exploitation: A Program For Men (SSE) curriculum, a non-judgmental program based on principles of social justice and personal transformation. The curriculum -- and discussion group -- explore several topics like the harms of sexual exploitation, power and violence and is open to all men.

UAHT is looking for a total of 12 men to virtually participate in two separate groups -- 6 men per group -- for 10 weeks.

One group will start Tuesday, May 4, and the second group will begin Thursday, June 3. The time commitment will be evenings from 6 to 9 p.m.

Your role will be to carry a training aid through any area where Passenger Screening Canine is being conducted. The TSA canines are classified as passive response canines, meaning their actions are passively controlled and non-aggressive.

You will need to wear loose fitting clothing and bring a small carry-on type piece of luggage. For example, roller bag, backpack, laptop bag, etc. You can also actually be traveling the day of your assignment. Just give us at least 48 hours advance notice so we can add you on the schedule.

You must not have allergies to the following items; dogs, cotton, wool, latex, or adhesive strips as these items may be used as a part of the exercise. With the great response we have had to people building bird feeders for our Hospice patients, we are now needing some hangers to place in yards to put the feeders on.  The majority of our patients do have trees in their yards that I can hang them on, however we have several that do not have trees outside of their window visible from their beds.

The poles can be metal, wooden, it doesn't matter what its made out of as long as I can stake it in the yard and hang a feeder onto it.

International Humanitarian Law (IHL) is the body of law that applies during times of armed conflict and seeks to protect persons who are not or are no longer participating in the armed conflict and to restrict the means and methods of warfare. Basic Level Instructors are able to deliver basic level IHL content within their region. Basic level IHL content includes, the Even War has Rules class, and other content approved by the SAF Region Lead. Communications: The role of the Communication Service Associate is to complete assigned tasks using one or more segments of the telecom industry being used on the DRO such as radio dispatch or maintenance, cellular sales or support, wireline carrier or Installation Company, or amateur radio.

Computer Operations: The role of the Computer Operations Service Associate is to complete assigned tasks using and troubleshooting PC technology including PC hardware, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.

Customer Service: The role of the Customer Service Service Associate is to retrieve and sort information and reports for Customer Service. Experience in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Access).

Cherish Our Children Inc. is interviewing candidates to intern with our GEMS Program. GEMS - Gaining Empowerment in Middle School is a unique approach to the stress, stigma and shame that middle school students experience when they have had a parent in prison.  Our internship program provides real-world, hands-on social and emotional training to Houston ISD and Aldine ISD students whose parents or loved ones are incarcerated.

This is a perfect opportunity for a college student who is pursuing a degree in education, social services, criminal justice or psychology.  It is also a great way for students studying in other fields to give back to the community in a way that helps students during one of the toughest periods of their lives. 

Opportunities are available in the summer and for the fall school semester.

We are a no-kill animal shelter that does our part to find forever homes for the animals in our program. We also do our part to help the community through our "Thinking Outside the Shelter" program and our monthly free clinics.

We started our clinics in March of 2020 when we saw a need. People in risk of losing their pets due to not being able to afford care for them anymore. We now hold clinics once a month as there is still a need. There are tons of opportunities for volunteers to help at these clinics, from check-in, distributing animal food; flea prevention to helping with documentation, and so much more.

We hold our monthly clinics at Silver Street Studios in Houston.

There is online training beforehand and hands-on training at the clinics. Must start with an application.

During each disaster relief operation there is a team who work behind the scenes taking care of the responding workforce. The team breaks down in to specialty tracks focused on each aspect of "human resource" type needs. You could chose from one (or more) of the following:

In 2020, United Against Human Trafficking took its fight against sex and labor trafficking virtual, and now we have an amazing library of anti-trafficking materials that begs for the wider audience that captioning provides.

We're seeking volunteers to caption our Outreach and Education videos in English, and at least one volunteer to handle our videos in Spanish. Most of the heavy work will be done by a captioning app, but volunteers with keen ears and an high-level attention to detail will make sure the captions are as accurate as possible.

If you have experience transcribing audio recordings or video editing -- or if you're someone who just knows they're capable of doing the job well -- this may be perfect for you!

RESPONSIBILITIES

Partner with Executive team and board members to ensure a strong understanding of the role requirements, accountabilities, and career path opportunities for leadership, volunteers and commissioned positions. 

Proactively source to secure talent based on current and future business needs, leveraging diverse recruiting resources including volunteer and employee referrals, professional organizations, educational institutions, cold calling, and networking to identify and recruit the best talent and ensure a diverse applicant pool.

Identify and select appropriate advertising and sourcing methods and resources using a wide range of media, Internet job sites, conferences /job fairs, etc. using independent discretion.

Review, evaluate and screen candidates for skill level, experience, and knowledge in relation to position requirements as well as for core values and culture fit.

Represent and promote the Harvey Nexus Brand, core values, and key aspects of the role to candidates.

Consult with and coach the Executive team through the selection process, provide an overview of pre-screen to hiring managers, and make recommendations for candidate interviews.

Conduct and document post-interview feedback with hiring managers and candidates

Use CRM to manage candidate flow and ensure compliance with documented hiring processes, reporting needs, and integrity in all recruiting efforts.

Meet recruiting timelines and goals, including metrics, as established by the Executive team and Board of Directors. 

Know, understand and ensure personal compliance to all Harvey Nexus  teammate, volunteers, employment and recruiting policies and procedures

Authoring and posting job opportunity advertisements on job boards and social media. 

Creating internal recommendations.

Administering interviews.

Taking advantage of digital recruiting resources.

Acquiring and sorting candidates through various sources and platforms.

Carrying out various administrative duties.

Managing new-hire on-boarding paperwork/orientations.

Other duties as assigned.

The Management Team and Board of Directors at Harvey Nexus Inc. is looking for an experienced Foundation and Corporate Relations Director  with a passion for humanity, sustainability, service to the community, and those working to make the world a better place.

The primary purpose of the Director, Corporate/Foundation Relations is to promote and support the mission of the Development Division through seeking foundation and corporate foundation dollars. The Director will be a seasoned leader excited about building outreach and expanding the portfolio for foundation giving as part of the Harvey Nexus campaign.

KEY FUNCTIONS

Portfolio management/expansion

Engage in qualification, strategy and relationship building with national foundations and corporate foundation entities, with a view toward sustained transformational giving over time. The individual's portfolio will be a mix of larger-capacity grant-making foundations and corporate foundations whose mission and strategic giving aligns with Harvey Nexus  Strategy and activities. 

The size and mix of the portfolio will be based on the needs of the team and the division's strategic focus over the period of the campaign.

Steward relationships with current and proposed institutional partners, guided by regular portfolio review and team-driven strategy for continued giving.

Participate and strategically outline activities, proposal preparation, strategy development and solicitation executed within a 12 - 24 month timeframe.

Work collaboratively, proactively and in a professional service-oriented manner with all institutional internal and external stakeholders and representing the core values of the institution.

Shoulder the responsibility to ensure data integrity and communication related to assigned foundations and corporations: research collaboration kickoff process for new relationships, grant acceptance due diligence, briefing the team on key terms and obligations from the support, entering information in CRM, and ensuring everyone knows and understands their roles and responsibilities in the partnership or grant acceptance agreement.

Work with the Board of Directors, President and Vice President to create investigation, approach and solicitation strategies for assigned targeted foundations. Engagement activities with foundations-whether in the investigation, solicitation or stewardship phases-could be through calls, virtual meetings or in-person visits to foster recruitment and or charity partnership. 

Develop a broad and deep understanding of current fundraising priorities across the institution, as outlined by the President, and the Executive Leadership or as envisioned as part of Harvey Nexus  Strategy.

Work with the leadership team and other stakeholders and faculty leaders across the organization on targeted top-tier foundations and corporate foundations: creating an annual plan for each assigned foundation based on strategy that includes key leadership champion/s and volunteer/board connections; thoughtful solicitation at the right time; and continuation of relationship for deeper relationship building over time.

Work closely with the Executive Team to drive the strategic growth of the FCR program, focusing on expansion of portfolio with new/unengaged top foundations. 

The individual has to create and foster a collaborative work environment among different groups across the institution and within the Division.

Manage Assistant Director(s) - 1-2 volunteers to join the team and possibly more in the future, as hiring proceeds to support the expansion of the program, ensuring that individual's professional growth, effectively and mentoring to prioritize workload to meet constantly changing demands and policy adherence.

Manage and prepare reporting of direct reports' progress in achieving annual fundraising goals and objectives.

Responsible for actively developing the direct report's skills through educational and training resources and facilitating best practices across the fundraising team.

Create and maintain a portfolio of documents for internal use that clarifies the role and scope of the program and how it is of service to faculty members.

Serve as a representative for the FCR team, as needed, at institutional gatherings (presenting on the program's areas) or externally, with potentially funding bodies.

Manage as a point of contact for planning/execution/follow-up for special projects/programs.

Display excellent and proven communication skills - including written and verbal, familiarity with medical terminology and ease of interacting with faculty members.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Eight or more years of experience in direct institutional (philanthropic, institutional foundations, corporate foundations) or individual fundraising, to include two years of supervisory or managerial experience. 

Preferred: Prior experience in corporate or foundation fundraising for social good, human services, workforce development, or other fields, such as community, academic and/or related organizations.
