Alzheimer's Association Support Group facilitators create a safe, open environment where people share their feelings, thoughts and experiences in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared problems of dementia. 

You'll be training to serve as an co-facilitator with an experienced facilitator for a group that meets the second Wednesdays at 1 pm.

Qualifications:

· Ability to be empathetic and separate personal needs from group needs.

· Strong listening and effective communication skills.

· Ability to redirect and facilitate discussion as well as fulfill the duties and responsibilities as described in the Facilitator Agreement.

· Commitment to promote the mission and services of the Association and willingness to act as an extension of the Association.

· Experience with dementia as a family member or health care professional preferred but not mandatory.

Ever wonder where those Red Barrel donations go – they go to your local food pantry!

Volunteers are needed to pick up Red Barrel food donations from two nearby grocery stores in the Cypress area and deliver donations to the Cy-Fair Helping Hands Community Food Pantry at 9204 Emmott Road on a Monday or Thursday morning between the hours of 9:00 am – 12:30 pm. Volunteers must be over 18, have a large vehicle (e.g., pick-up truck, van or SUV) and car insurance. This is a relatively flexible position that doesn’t require a lot of time commitment yet contributes significantly to our mission to bring hope to the homeless and hungry!

Parents Night Out provides respite care on Fridays to families of teens and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders and similar disabilities. Volunteers provide the teens with one-on-one attention and assist with activities in two locations - Bellaire and Katy.

Help is needed each week process applications for new clients each Wednesday.  Shifts are available from 10am-12pm and 12pm-2pm.  Work is indoors, seated.  Registration involves entering application data into computer program and speaking with the clients about their needs.  Come help us each week as we assist families needing food assistance in the NW Houston area.  Volunteer once a month or more.

We distribute food in a curbside format every Thursday afternoon for senior clients.  Help is needed to gather the food and deliver to their cars.  You can volunteer for shifts from 10am-12pm, 12pm-2pm, or both.

Join us to provide bilingual help to check in families to receive food.  Food distribution takes place on Thursday evenings between 4:30pm and 7:00pm.  You may volunteer weekly or 1-2 times per month, however an ongoing monthly commitment is requested.

The JC Friends of the Library are a group of community members who meet every other month and volunteer to help the library. A Door-to-Door Assessment of the flood affected areas. A questionnaire is utilized to determine the resident’s immediate recovery needs and to start the process on the long-term rebuild. Teams will be given packets for each home that was affected with important contact information and assistance.

Assist with organizing flood files and contacting residents. Provide assistance to individuals that come into the office to utilize the computers or fill out paperwork. Answer phones and provide support to office staff.

Assist with inputting assessments and contact information into the system. Verifying ownership of property through the Fort Bend County Central Appraisal District.

Assist with getting supplies to the work sites, picking up supplies from the POD (Point of Distribution) sites, running to the store for supplies. This individual must have access to a truck and/or trailer.

Fort Bend Hope just started its After School Mentoring Program again this year!

The Lone Star Symphonic Band is a Non-Profit Community Band based in Katy, Texas. We are organizing a non-auditioned community choir for our patriotic concert, to be held on July 2nd, 2023, and are in search of chorus members.

Rehearsals will be one night a week - on Sundays - beginning on June 4th, 2023, from 6 pm - 8 pm. The performance will be on July 2nd, at 4 pm. Rehearsals and the performance will all be at Holy Covenant United Methodist Church, 22111 Morton Rd., Katy, TX 77449.

AccentCare Hospice is piloting a Virtual Reality Experience Program for hospice patients. Virtual Reality Experience Volunteers will be trained to work alongside the Hospice Social Worker to bring provided virtual reality equipment into the patient's home and engage them with experiences they would never have access to normally. The Family Hope Center is a child-centered, family-focused place where families go to find hope, support and empowerment in their community to reach their fullest God-given potential. The key to the Family Hope Center's success is found in combining effective programs and passionate people to help families that are experiencing poverty, family issues and a lack of services.

A part of our Aldine Family Hope Center is a twice a week food pantry (Tuesday and Thursday). At this time the pantry is open to anyone that is in need. As a volunteer you will be helping to stock the pantry, fill the donation boxes, and meet with the families. There will always be a staff member present as well. 

We would love to have you serve with us! 

(we are always looking for pantry donation items too if you/your organization would be interested in a food drive)

Hospice volunteers provide a variety of direct and indirect services to patients and their families. Visits to provide companionship, caregiver relief, errands, music therapy, pet therapy, and other services are examples of direct services. Phone calls, pen-pals, and special projects like blanket crafting are examples of indirect services. Volunteers can also get involved with administrative support by assisting in the office.

What hospice volunteer does is determined by their abilities and interests.

The hours are flexible plus we cover all of Houston and the surrounding areas...wherever you are, we have a need.
